Here is where we stand. We've got 23+ members. If Nemesio and Tetsujin decide to play then the list will go from me down to C99ux. If those two drop out, then PawnCurry and Ivangrice will take their place. Edwardipov will be in reserve if anyone else drops out. Now keep in mind that if you start in this game you will be committing yourself to a six month (or so) enterprise (assuming you don't get eliminated early). So I just want to make sure everyone on the list is up to the challenge. I will contact Agegames today and see about setting up our private RHP game. Let me know if you have any questions.

Hmm... I might be unavailable for 3 months in the beginning of 2006 so perhaps a more certain player can take my place.

Rwingett, a question:

Must all alliances ultimately end up being broken in order to win? Can it be expected that any and all mutual interests must be eventually severed by the sword? Or, can it be useful to have an ally aid you (unwittingly of course, because their self-interest is bound to be stronger than their pledge to you) in victory?

thanks

3 months? That would pretty much make you ineligible. Are you certain of this?

No. Victory does not require worldwide conquest. Coalition victories are fairly common. It is possible to have one or two good allies right through to the end. In fact, it is very difficult to declare a solo victory. Allies will be crucial to you.

I would probably recommend that everyone go to their site and download the "Diploware." There is a tutorial in there that would be helpful to look at before we try to get underway.

Wingnut, what's the tentative starting date and time for this? (If one exists)

This will be good. Looking forward to this game.

I do have a few questions.....

Do certain Nations or Provinces have certain advantages and disadvantages? Speicalty troops, etc....

Example - England and their Welsh archers, The owner of Switzerland can produce some wicked Pikemen? The Italians and having the Center of Christianity located there (The Pope, etc...)? The Muslems and declaring a Jihad?

I didnt see anything specific in the rules covering this sort of thing... did I miss it?

Don't know yet. I just emailed them this morning. Haven't heard back from them yet. This is the first time I've tried to organize a private game, so I'm not sure on the procedure yet. I would guess within a week?

Okay, I just ask you give us like a day or two heads up before we begin...

All the realms are all essentially the same. The only differences are the variations in the troops available to each realm and their unique geographical settings. There are no Popes or Jihad in the rules. You could roleplay your realm to reflect those things, but that's up to your individual intiative.

Yes. There are several realms that start with no access to the sea. That can change rapidly, though. So your quest for naval domination may have to wait a while if you get stuck with, oh, say Bavaria.
