I do understand how Cribs, his judgement perhaps impaired by feelings of persecution, could have interpeted your rebuke about moderation criticism to have been related to his ban immediately afterwards, especially in view of your somewhat extremist opinons about offensiveness. If this is the case, then your involvement results from a misunderstanding o ...[text shortened]... er people have gotten away with far more, especially in view of Cribs' previous posting record.
my 'extremist' views about offensiveness - somewhat of a premature judgement, perhaps.
my involvement? i wasn't involved till you decided to involve me - i thought we were discussing moderation matters (though i don't approve of the way this was happening).
now in light of what has transpired so far - am i off the hook with you?
i would like to get on with other things like getting to sleep (4 am) and have stayed up to clear up this 'misunderstanding' as you call it.
is my part all finally resolved?

no i wasn't trying to be mischievous.
i really haven't a clue now who you were talking about.
for a moment, i thought you might be talking about me - but that may be because my mind was a bit skewed by rc's my discussions with rc.
i would certainly be very surprised if you thought it was i.

I think posting your opinion rgarding moderation, or anything else, in a thread renders one 'involved'--not in a complicitious, 'criminal' way, but in the way in which 'involve' is literally meant--I was not trying to inspire defensiveness.
I would love to discuss offensiveness in the Debates forum once you've gone to bed. It's past 7 here.
EDIT I don't mean ''discuss offensiveness while you are asleep'' but rather ''after you've had some sleep''.

i don't know why you wrote How do you interpret the word ''offensive'', btw? in your PM to me.
yet in this thread you become sufficiently enthused to write in view of your somewhat extremist opinons about offensiveness.
i find that very puzzling, but i will not speculate on it further now.
but i may when i wake up.
this discussion deteriorated into innuendos and insinuations - and i was surprised they involved me!
i even for a moment thought my friend skeeter was accusing me. i really feel rather bad about that.
i am further convinced that they should not take place in this fashion.
i can better appreciate how a mod might feel.
good night everyone.

In what way does your role in this thread allow you to empathize with mods? I still respectfully think you are completely wrong on this score, but that is not important as this thread exists at this point.
Well why did you not ask me what you wanted to know?
I was the first to be banned.
I have no view on the latest because I have not kept up.
I can,however,offer something.
Observations:
Same Mods.
Same reactions.
However,it is not all bad:
Not the same RHP in terms of "if you want to play chess".Much improved.More and more facilities are added seems day by day.The chess side of RHP is faultless.
I got banned because Someone posted my address.I alerted moderator.I asked for my home address to be removed.I was told it could not be removed because it was not offensive. So I tried to sabotage the thread.
Things have improved since then.
I hope we can all join again as a family united and move forward instead of us finding hurdles we all have to jump over.
Originally posted by missleadIt may not have been offensive, but it was against the TOS, and frankly simple courtesy would have suggested that information that could personally identify you was removed when you requested.

Your reaction may have been OTT, or may not: I didn't see so don't know. The motivation for your action is clear and is not in my view unreasonble.
Failure to remove personal information from public display when so requested was, again in my view, an act of failure on the moderator's part. Maybe verging on illegal in the UK but the DPA doesn't apply here. I suspect the mods get it right far more often than wrong but that does aknowledge that wrong choices will be made. Who doesn't?

Originally posted by royalchickenCribs first made the attack on Pradtf the started mod bashing. I told him to chill and let the mods do their job. He ignored me and continued. The ban was his fault for continuing after both I and Pradtf said something. Now why are you posting a PM from Cribs even if he gave you permission? Do you realize that doing so is circumventing his ban? It is not really a good idea to spit in the face of the mods.
Michelle, I agree that the thread should be reinstated, but perhaps we'd best be a bit careful of what we say until the full story is given us. As it stands, we don't know who alerted the mods.
Regards,
Mark
Based on his post, I'd say Cribs did make a personal attack on Prad initially, but that the mods should have exercised a bit more imagination thatn they did about Cribs' intent.

i see people asking who alerted the mods. From reading Russ' post in another thread it can be seen that Flash deleted the post then eventually shut the thread and banned Cribs BECAUSE HE WAS READING THE THREAD HIMSELF. If you guys (lead by skeeter) prefer to continue your conspiracy theory go right ahead but you can freely ask the mod who did it.
