Since this whole heated (and sometimes rather nasty debate) was started as a result of something that happened in a thread I started, I feel I should say something.
First of all, the disagreement between Feivel and Cribs had nothing to do with any sort of problem between Feivel and myself. We have no problem, at least as far as I'm concerned. Feivel was letting Cribs know that, in his opinion, Cribs was walking a fine line with his posts.
I contacted one of the mods personally, requesting an explanation about the zapping of the thread and was perfectly satisfied with the answer I was given and said I had no problem with the decision to make it go away. It was never paramount for me to know who pushed the button.
One amazing thing to me about this current thread is that the person(s) whose posts prompted me to start the thread in the first place is/are mysteriously absent. I think this speaks volumes.
I had no idea when I started the thread that it would lead to any sort of divisiveness on the site. I would like to apologize to Russ and all the mods for the brouhaha that has resulted. I personally think the mods do a very good job, based on my experiences. I have made my own opinions known to the mod I contacted via PM and told him that I would expect the same treatment if I overstepped the bounds of TOS.
There's an old saying that goes something like "one man's weed is another man's flower" , which was kinda my basis for creating the thread. The mods are human and will, simply because of that fact make some errors in judgment, but unless it can be shown that there is a personal vendetta involved, the mod should be given the benefit of the doubt in my opinion.

as far as i'm concerned reading all this thread again, flash did the right thing.
the only wrong thing about this thread is that it was started in the first place when there are plenty of other, more appropriate routes that could have been pursued.

partly because if they are discussed, they should be done in the help area.
partly because mods shouldn't be the subject of this sort of scrutiny.
anyway, having slept and woken up. it seems to me now that this thread had nothing to do with improving the moderation, but more to do with finding that 'terrible person' who got cribs kicked out. for a while, i was almost led to believe that i might have done the deed 😀
i am not against people getting together publically to make this a better place - just as long as that is what we are trying to do. i am happy to elaborate further, if you wish it.

in you other reply you questioned the usefuleness of democratic approach in RHP. And now this. Are you sure you want to go this way?
here's what i said: "since when has RHP suddenly become a democracy requiring a democratic solution to processes?"
you acknowledged: "My mistake, obviously."
and i said: "no problem, mephisto2!"
if russ wants to involve us in a democratic process i'm fine with that.
if he doesn't, that's great too.
but as you know so well, i am no fan at all of what feivel has aptly named "As RHP turns" 😀

I can tell you that if this site would opt for a non-democratic approach, it would be without me.

we are all free to stay or leave this site - that is plenty of democratic freedom, imho.

edit 2. putting it back (more or less)
The 'privately' owned site would be nothing without its customers. They (read 'I'😉 expect a democratic approach.
