For the North America Meet-Ups, you need to decide on both. I am not sure what makes more sense - voting on the location or on the date first. For me, it would clearly be the date, because there is only exactly one weekend in 2006 which would work for me, and I am a little more flexible with the location. But there are probably more people for whom it is the other way round, so it may be best to vote on the location first.
That's why I think we need an official vote like the London meetup had.

I too voted for Boston. no1 pointed out that its a bit out of the way. This being after Boston got so many votes. Thus it is illogical to choose it. I didnt think of the fact that its in a corner and only accesible on the grand scale from 2 directions. regardless, be it boston, or be it philly, be it NYC or baltimore. what the hell, if its in Rio, i promise we'll play.
I wouldn't mind a return trip to that city!😀
Well, I think this thread has been up long enough to get a general idea of where folks are interested or willing to travel. There have also been lots of good ideas and suggestions expressed along the way. At this point I'm going to stop tallying, and make my recommendations for what the next step(s) should be.
In the NE folks were pretty evenly split between Boston and Philadelphia. However, several of the people who voted for Boston mentioned a willingness to go to Philadelphia. Philly seems more centralized, so my suggestion is that we go forward with working on a meet-up in Philadelphia.
What we need is a volunteer who lives in or near Philly who would like to organize a meet-up there. I'll start a new thread with that intent, and see what develops.
There wasn't much consensus in the SE or Central regions, so I would suggest that someone in those regions take up the call to organize further.
In the west, SF and Denver were the only place getting votes, with Denver getting more. Since there's already another thread started for a SF/west coasr meet-up, I think someone near Denver ought to take the lead on coordinating a meet-up there.
Please see the Philadelphia Meet-Up thread in general forum...
Thread 34022 if you are interested in making this trip!!!
