I'm stating my opinion on what would be best for more people; I live in upstate New York about 3 hours from Boston, so it would actually be closer than the other places mentioned. I would make an attempt to attend any such get together in the eastern US (it would give some people their chance to take a poke at me).

Phlabby lives in Rhode Island, not Boston. It seems to me that Boston isn't that good geographically speaking; you can hardly go further north and east. Washington or Philly or Pittsburgh would seem to be better locations if you're trying to maximize attendance from people in the eastern half of the US and Canada.
Nothing is stone, and NO... I can't organize my socks let alone a chess meet!!!
I'll be outside smoking whereever we end up. Dang London people get to smoke inside... that is old style.

no1 is right. Boston is in a bit of a corner and is much farther away than alot of other cities. The one which is chosen should at least be somewhat equidistant from everybody. On second thought, I'm changing my pick of Boston to either Philly or D.C., whichever is more favorably looked upon. I still think NYC is a good choice though.
Last official tally, Boston had more votes than any 2 combined on the east coast? Doesn't that mean more people will attend there than some other place?

Its a rather large country and area that we have here. Remember, the london meet was almost all people from England, which is approx. a little larger than texas i believe. If this is to happen, there is going to have to be more than two locations. anywhere we pick for an east and a west is going to be a hell of a long way to go for a lot of people. This is great idea, but we need to accomodate more areas than just east and west. maybe northeast, southeast, central, northwest and southwest can all have their own. there has to be enough members from all those areas to have wild and crazy party

The idea of some central meeting point that will accomodate everyone is ludicrous. My guess is most players won't travel more than a days drive and in fact won't even go that far. I know I wouldn't consider flying unless I could incorporate the RHP meet into some type of mini-vacation with my family.
Should be interesting to see how this all turns out!
