@great-big-stees saidJust noticed this Stees, my condolences.
Notable to me. A brother-in-law at 63. The second one in 3 months. There were 6 of us, 2 passed about 13 years ago, both of inoperable brain cancer, both at 48, leaving only 2 of us both of whom are the eldest with me being the oldest.

@divegeester saidThank you👍 Death is inevitable but in spite of us knowing this it’s still sad. We, brothers-in-law all got along swimmingly having spent many “boys only” times together but with each passing the pool starts looking bigger. We had a celebration of life (attended by about 200 folks) on Saturday and though there were many tears there were more cheerful reminiscences.RIP Billy O.👍

@great-big-stees saidSorry to hear that.

@fmf saidMy condolences to you and your family. It’s hardest to deal with when the person is “young” but unfortunately we have no say in when it happens. May she Rest In Peace.👍
My condolences. Notable to me, my wife's aunt passed away yesterday 31st December, in Jakarta, after a short illness ~ she was 5 years younger than my wife ~ being my mother-in-laws sixth and youngest sibling ~ and my wife being my mother-in-law's eldest ~ a situation made possible by marrying young [in the late 1950s] and having large families.
Ninik, as she was known, for y ...[text shortened]... some jealousy that is often found in a large complicated family with limited attention to go around.

@great-big-stees saidThanks, Great Big Stees. The stats would suggest that, if one gets into one's 60s and then shuffles off this mortal coil, it's pretty much a fair cop, tragic as the "too early" aspect may be.

@fmf saidApparently, and this is probably for 1st World countries, people can expect to live into their early 80s, so someone passing before that would be considered young.

@great-big-stees saidI don't think I agree. I have spent the last 20 years mourning family and friends, back home, dying in their 60s. Yes, there's talk of them being "too young" but, compared to dying in one's 40s and 50s, I think in-one's-60's is a relatively unexceptional time to pop one's clogs.

@fmf saidI see your point. I guess it’s all relative. Anyone one with less New Years’ than me are young.🤔

@divegeester saidThat is so sad. Just read up on how it had affected many of his organs. Worrying to hear as I have heard of someone who recently went into hospital with Covid and has also had a heart attack.
Derek Draper 56 (husband of TV newsreader Kate Garraway)
Draper was one of the UK’s longest suffering Covid19 sufferers, spending over a year in hospital.
