So, if that is right it puts a slight hole in your theory eh? 😉
Furthermore, those who have paid may think they are therefore entitled to spam.
Originally posted by Freddie2004I love how the $30 is 'hardly any money at all' when subs try to push subscriptions, and a 'grave financial loss' when it comes to losing membership.
Subscribers have a demonstrated an interest in the site; by subsribing, non-subs havn't, and are therefore more likely to spam; annoy etc... because they have not invested money in the site; and if they are banned they won't lose anything; whereas a sub will lose $20/$30.
Your argument fails to consider spamming and annoying subs like STANG. C'mon Freddie, humor me here. Why didn't STANG behave after he paid his 30 bucks? Why didn't parting with some cash improve his behavior? Could it be because behavior is intrinsic to the person, regardless of their bank balance??
I don't buy the story that this is to prevent spam.
If that was the case, it would or should be restricted to ten different people only.[as opposed to ten messages]
My belief is that it is a sales routine to get you to subscribe.
All biased subscribers will disagree. All non-biased non subs will agree.

Anyone who tells me that they can't afford 30 bucks a year is a LIAR. There can't be any excuses. Even the worst scrounger out there can rustle up less than a quid a week. If you're that hard up, go begging.
Do you smoke? Quit. OK, that may be a bit hard for some, so... erm... Stop buying tabs and pick up dog ends. Drink? Drink water. It's usually free. Eat? ...[text shortened]... s? Go there, skinflint.
EDIT: If you're that bad off, sell your fckuing computer...
all truth be told, i would probubly take the £20 out of my overdraft (evil thing that it is), but i would have to think very hard about needing it. i didn't actually pay for my subscription, it was/is a gift.
also, i can only get on here in a computer lab as we don't have internet access in out flat.
the joys of studenthood 🙂
oh, and next year i'm gonna have less money as it's darn hard to hold down a job whilst doing honours-i mean, it's hard enough this year 😕
Originally posted by geniusI just don't believe you. When I was a student, I didn't work and I could have still afforded £20 once for a whole year. Take out a loan, get a bigger overdraft and live a little. Trust me, when you finish uni, your situation sure as hell won't get any better, enjoy your freedom whilst you still can.

As to those that don't subscribe for the reason that they can't afford it, balls.

price of a couple of CD's or maybe a DVD, I bet you have a bunch
of them in your collection, how come you didn't have to take out
a loan for THEM?
re: genius's post
Give up trying to explain mate, anyone with half a brain [which rules out some of this lot*] would realise these things. Some of these tossers know nothing of life yet and probably had their mommys pay it for them anyway.
*Note: many of the subs here are ok though. Even though they hate us underlings.😏
Originally posted by Starrmani'm not saying i can't afford it-i have a large overdraft etc. it's just that it is a lot of money to lump out in one go.

and my parents can't support me at all, but they earn enough that my loan covers 2-and-a-bit month rent. also, the rent here is extorsionate(sp?). the average is £95 a week!
Originally posted by geniusScraping pennies while a student sucks - truly. I paid my whole way through uni, by working vac jobs and 3/4 nights in a bar. Never had a holiday in four years but emerged debt-free. It's your choice, but the $30 here in my country represents a meal at a steak house for two with a reasonable bottle of wine. I think it's great value for money - but don't tell Russ, he might get ideas.
