Meanwhile I have resubbed to Paramount+ for "Star Trek: Brave New Worlds" -- but started watching Picard S2 the other day and think I will finish that before I start ST:BNW.

I am midway through Series 2 of Dark, the German time travel story. Excellent stuff.

An American version of this would probably lumber through the plot points to string it out.

But in European hands, this story has been exquisitely and grippingly told.

It feels claustrophobic and highly intricate, and somehow feels glacial and ponderous/ominous at times, and yet it actually barrels along with twists and turns, and characters twigging on fairly swiftly to the supernatural realities that are being uncovered expertly in this series' storytelling.

Billions - the first series of this story without Daniel Lewis in it - was just as good with Cory Stoll in the lead role of Michael Prince.

I am halfway through the finale episode of Picard Series 2 and it has been very entertaining. I shan't give anything away about it; just that it's a good and worthy addition to the relatively new "Picard" franchise.

I need to take a look at this, if it’s on a channel I subscribe to.

Here is an edition of Bill's Big Bag Onions which has 25+ onions by about 15 different people - several from here at RHP - laid on top of the original soundtrack of Dark Series 1. Spotify: https://tinyurl.com/3vw58mz6

Why would I be joking?
Because Cruise made an embarassment of the Reacher novels?

I said it was a good film, I didn’t say it was realistic.
I suspect you'd like Shaquille O'Neal in the title role of The Hobbit?

Now I have finally watched the first episode of the Alan Ritchson Reacher, and I like it, not just for him.

I'm not much of a binger, but I can handle an eight-episode arc.
The final episode brings a feeling of satisfaction to the whole season.

I am two episodes into "The Vietnam War", a 10-part American television documentary series directed by Lynn Novick and Ken Burns.

Hmmm, I found the Star Trek sequels and prequels very uneven. Enterprise with Captn. Archer was irredeemably awful. Discovery was much better. Voyager was drab until Seven of Nine showed up; DS9 was drab until Worf came on board.

Enterprise got better and was eventually good for about three series. I found Deep Space 9 tedious and several attempts to get past the midway point in series 1 failed. Voyager seemed worthy and inventive but I think it was aimed at a younger demographic. I thought Discovery series 1 was tremendous but felt disaffected thereafter, not sure why. Picard has been good.
