I know you said that you don't want to spend time on the opening but don't you think 11Ba3 was premature since black wasn't threatening to castle kingside with his knight still on g8, both 11.Re1+ and 11.Nc3 look better. I'm also pretty sure I got the solution.

I'm just going over the ideas behind the move and the plans, I don't really want to get into this move is only 2nd best compared to ___. Old master games were not perfect but they are great examples of strategy and planning and easy to understand.

I didn't say that. I said some were wrong, some were right. I don't care if it's write a wrong.
BTW, computer engines often disagree with old master games. The point of this is not for me to show the best moves, it's just to show the idea behind the moves and why they worked even if they are the second best move.
I know computers often disgree, but nonetheless, computers are good for pointing out the blindingly stupid errors (90% of the time that is.)...
Anyway I don't pay too much attension to 1st, 2nd choices, etc -- that is, unless the numerical difference is more than trivial
