What I have repeatedly said is that these players of average strength are simply unlikely to be cheating (unlikely is not, incidently, the same as not) with the exception being players who are rising through this level on their way up and are probably unbeaten at the current time and who cannot be eliminated from the equation.
If you wan ...[text shortened]... certainly a more practical way forward than anything I have had the misfortune to hear from you.

If you believe that loads of 1500s are cheating you out of your just glory all I can say is bring them on because I did not know I was capable of beating so many engines.
Originally posted by Dragon FireUh huh. i hear alot of babbling and alot of childish posturing, i see precious little evidence of your "claim" that there are only a sparse handful of cheaters at this site, and believe it or not they are all magically rated above 2000. π

Originally posted by eldragonflyHe has more knowledge about this than most of us. Just because it is an opinion (although different than yours) does not make it "silly" or "unfortunate." In fact, it's quite logical that players Class B and lower who are consistently around that level are probably not cheating or at the very least not in a flagrant way. If they were simply taking engine recommendations every move, they would be 2200+. Of course, proving that everyone is innocent is an insurmountable task, just like proving there is no scissor monster under everyone's bed. However, this is an unreasonable standard.
that is pure conjecture, i don't see how you can make these silly and unfortunate statements and keep a straight face. Your rising 2000 crew started out as 1200's just like the rest. π
BTW: They should really fix the bug where the less than sign erases everything else in the post. That is really annoying. Testing bug: This is a nice
Originally posted by eldragonflyI don't recollect using the words "sparse handful" nor that they are "all magically rated above 2000" at any time but you are certainly deluding yourself if you think you are coming up against cheater after cheater graded 1400-1600. The worst that such players could do if they were cheating is using an engine to check the odd move in their games, clearly without any impact on the actual result. Whilst this is wrong its impact on their performance and the enjoyment of the overwhelming majority of players on this site is of negligible significance.

You appear to resort to insults to support your lack of substansive evidence and repeatedly use the words "childish posturing" in place of reasoned argument. Can you come up with any evidence of substansive engine use from players at the level you feel it is rampant. Accusing adults of being children is usually the indication of a failed argument.
Originally posted by Dragon FireDont forget that he considers that players who use only books/databases are cheaters π

Any of the games I've analysed have all appeared to be against human player. Whilst it''s not conclusive evidence it certainly doesn't indicate to me that there is a big problem with cheats around my level.

Originally posted by Dragon Fireas i never said such a thing, i have to wonder why the "clubs" thing was touted as the solution to opponents whom were considered or suspected to be engine users. Unless i am mistaken, there is no magic number/rating associated with membership in a club, therefore it is extremely obvious, at least to me, that cheating is far more rampant and far more of a problem than some of the nay-sayers here are willing to admit. And you pretending to know what goes on in the mind of a cheater/engine user is also quite ridiculous, on the face of it.

Originally posted by Dragon FireI have said it before in here and now I will say it again. Never argue with idiots, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you on experience.
