Come on FMF! You were a Bible believing Christian for 28 years and you don't know what the Bible says about that? You know the answer, and if you don't then you were never a Bible believing Christian, because all Bible believing Christians know why God will punish the unbelieving world.
Your problem is that you never believed God, so you seem to think you ...[text shortened]... rpose of entrapping your adversary in a debate over words all day with this line of questioning.
Originally posted by josephwWhat assertions are you referring to and are you saying I should use "wit" to support them?
Such wit geester! That you employ it to heap insult is not surprising given that you never actually use it to provide scriptural evidence for your assertions.
I guess in your world to make the best insult means you win the debate?

You know, I'd hoped that by engaging in a polite and substantive discussion of some interesting theological issues, this thread could turn into something worthwhile. But now, again, it's just devolved into a series of mean-spirited accusations and insults. It's a shame, really.

Are you one of those who thinks a debate forum about religion would be full of peace and harmony?
You are only one of the many instigators here, so don't flatter yourself.

Fully agree with your doubt that "... if God does exist he'd be overly worried about whether one stands up or sits down to pray, and I don't think he'd keep out people for not quite getting his nature right..." This fixation on peripheral details has always been and still is symptomatic of titular religious organizations' useless worship of ritual without reality and ceremony without substance which is perpetrated on the uninformed parishoners. The only question was the original post in "God's person..." Please see: Thread 161456
I think I've mentioned this before. I was baptised a Presbytearian, my parents tend to go to the nearest Church, which where I was brought up was the Church of England place across the road, it was at the low church end of English Anglicanism. I'm now an agnostic. Unitarianism is logical to me, which is a different statement to I think it's ...[text shortened]... ding". If I were to suddenly start believing I'd be an Anglican, if that answers your question.
"Ever give any serious thought to the attributes of the essence of God's person, specifically our point of contact with Him?"
You replied: "I'm now an agnostic". What does agnosticism mean to you and what are its short and longer term benefits?

Talking about my Christian beliefs in the past is just you dodging.

Originally posted by josephwI don't subscribe to the claims made about the divinity of Jesus and the nature of God made by Christians any more but I did so for many years. I do not see how asking Christians about their beliefs on a fundamental issue like this here on a discussion and debate message board can be characterized as "entrapping" people. Either you are clear and proud about your beliefs or you're not. If you don't like the line of questioning why persist with debate on this issue?
Your problem is that you never believed God, so you seem to think you need to press this issue for the sole purpose of entrapping your adversary in a debate over words all day with this line of questioning.
