"Cults love for you to believe their leaders are the only chosen ones, they have the only and true channel to God, and everyone else is evil, wicked, or of the devil. This is exemplified in the case of Jehovah’s Witnesses, where disfellowshipped and disassociated persons from their organization are painted as being like the demons, and contact with them should be cut off."

"Because The Governing Body of Jehovah’s Witnesses expects to be obeyed without question and followed as earthly leader of Jehovah’s Witnesses, millions of people are stuck in a system of obeying these man-made rules, exerting themselves to live up to the ever-changing ideas, policies and principles concocted by an elite group of men in New York."

2. we are not to obey the elders as the Bible admonishes
thanks

When Jesus heard that, He said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy and not sacrifice.’ For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.”
(Matthew 9:10-13 NKJV)
1. Perhaps the sinner is the one that disfellowships his neighbor.
Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many.
(Matthew 24:11 NKJV)
2. I recall that the Watchtower Society and the Jehovah's Witnesses have made false prophecies in the past.

False Teachers Exposed
Jehovah's Witnesses Elders
sorry you have not even adressed nor made reference to the passages in the Bible which mention disfellowshipping, do you not know where they are, secondly you have also not made reference to the scripture which states that we are to be obedient to those taking the lead (the elders among us), do you also not know where that is. So i will ask you again,
1. why is disfellowshipping as detailed in scripture, not to be followed
2. why must we abandon the scriptures and not be obedient to those who are taking the lead among us, as Hebrews 13:17 states.
it appears to me that you are advising that we abandon the Bibles teaching, why would anyone but a false Christian do that? Lets see if you can do better this time.
You were not asked about prophecies, you were not asked about Jehovahs witnesses elders, you were asked why we should not remain obedient as Hebrews states and why disfellowshipping is not to be followed. You got that?

it was too much to hope for, the haters have singled out Jehovahs witness once again, despite there being a whole other thread dedicated where they could vent their negativity. Despite being asked why they have done so, they could not give an honest answer, let them hate, if its all they know its no wonder that they have so many issues.
Just arrogant.

I have noticed that in religious discussion that there has been the indiscriminate use of the term cult. For example i was listening to a radio program in which a rather right wing American evangelist termed Islam as not a religion but as a cult. On these very forums, Christianity has also been termed a cult, usually without much regard for what t ...[text shortened]... term actually means. So what are the definitive characteristics of a cult, this is my question.
When it is believed by a small number of people, they are a cult.
When it is believed by a large number of people, a religion is born.

Obey those who rule over you, and be submissive, for they watch out for your souls, as those who must give account. Let them do so with joy and not with grief, for that would be unprofitable for you.
(Hebrews 13:17 NKJV)
The above verse refers back to these people who spoke the truth of the word of God, not to false teachers and false prophets of the Jehovah's Witnesses and the Watchtower Society which you must judge according to their words, faith, and conduct.
Remember those who rule over you, who have spoken the word of God to you, whose faith follow, considering the outcome of their conduct. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Do not be carried about with various and strange doctrines. For it is good that the heart be established by grace, not with foods which have not profited those who have been occupied with them.
(Hebrews 13:7-9 NKJV)
Isn't refusing to allow the giving of blood to save a life through blood transfusions a strange doctrine? I believe it would be a very strange doctrine by the early Christians.
HalleluYah !!! Praise the Lord! Glory be to God! Holy! Holy! Holy!
