Do you share the view with Kelly, and whodey it seems, that the 'Mark of the Beast' will be the 'chipping' of humans by various governments?
'Chipping'? I'm not so sure on this, it could be as KJ said, just a tattoo that, in the future, could be made with imbedded electronics that make it act like a computer chip. Kind of like a 'barcode on steroids'. But right now, with available technology, a computer chip seems likely. OTOH, though, technology is improving all the time, so it's hard to predict the ultimate form of the 'Mark'.
The main thing to remember, is that the Mark can only be applied to you with your permission. Sure, they can coerce you by denying you access to goods and services without it, but ultimately, you must choose.
Sound familiar?

Isn't it more likely to have been some concern or preoccupation or beef that early Christians had with the Romans and the way the Roman Empire was being run at the time Revelation was written?

He and I can both read the words 'pessimism' and 'misanthropy', AND we both know what they mean. You phrase your 'question' to paint him with these words no matter which answer he gives you. I wouldn't answer such an obvious personal attack, either.
The least you could do is come clean when busted. I think we're done here.

Originally posted by FMFYou want it both ways, don't you? Or rather, you're ready with your little 'trick responses' either way, meant to obscure and deflect.
If this [and other stuff you are mentioning] is in fact "just in America" ~ as you appear to concede ~ does it then not rather undermine your interpretation and extrapolation of the Bible verses to the entire world and to the coming decades?
My personal experience is only with America. If I presumed to talk about other countries, you'd jump all over me for that.
It's okay, I'm not expecting you to understand what I'm saying anyways. But that doesn't stop you from refuting it, per usual.

Never mind. I'm not going to belabor this any further, it only makes it appear that I value your 'opinion'. And neither of us is really here only for your enjoyment, which is what this is really about, I suspect.
Originally posted by SuzianneBut surely you're not claiming that Revelation is about America and then projecting whatever your political interpretations are onto an entire world that is generating evidence that runs counter to your American domestic experience?

Originally posted by SuzianneThis doesn't answer my question. If I find his outlook both pessimistic and misanthropic, what words do you suggest I use to express this opinion? It is the content of his posts that has led me to the opinion that I have. And I have the same opinion about you and galveston75 and about the content of many of your posts.

I can't change your mind. You're going to be disagreeable and projecting your own hatred of America onto me no matter what I do.
So go ahead, knock yourself out. I won't be facilitating that any longer.
Originally posted by SuzianneYes, I am absolutely and specifically "accusing" you of this ["Taking a local view and projecting it to a worldwide importance and quantity"], as you well know, and as anyone reading my responses to you will see and know beyond any shadow of a doubt, being, as it is, crystal clear from the content of my posts.

What does this mean in practical terms? For example, what does 'spake like a dragon' mean? How does a dragon speak?
Originally posted by FMFNo, it doesn't. I wasn't trying to answer your question. Firstly, I find your 'questioning technique' to be barely camouflaged insults, and secondly, I found this particular question to be ridiculously badly-worded. But then, it wasn't really a question meant to be answered, was it? All your 'questions' exist on their own 'merit', requiring no answer because they couch your opinion in cheap clothing. As such, your opinion carries even less weight than RJH's, since they're basically the same type of thrusting opinions out in people's faces, with little to no reason to support them, only he doesn't assume to fool people by putting his in the form of a question. So you will pardon me if I treat ALL your questions as rhetorical. I only interjected this time because you were unfairly characterizing KellyJay.
This doesn't answer my question. If I find his outlook both pessimistic and misanthropic, what words do you suggest I use to express this opinion? It is the content of his posts that has led me to the opinion that I have. And I have the same opinion about you and galveston75 and about the content of many of your posts.
And btw, you can spare me your 'good intentions'. Disagreeing with KellyJay and making him appear unreasonable ("pessimistic" and "misanthropic" ) is all you're interested in, and by making this into an 'opinion' so that you can name-call all you want and actually expect to be allowed this 'opinion' without rebuke is the only purpose of posting as you did (and do). It has precious little to do with the content of his post (or mine, or galveston's ), no matter how loudly you claim it does. Seen in this light, this makes you out to be the "pessimistic" and "misanthropic" one.
Can we get back to this thread now?? Or is hijacking and obfuscating your only raison d'etre?
