@fmf saidAnd if it isn't based on truth, what is that mean? If happiness alone is the goal at the expense of truth, we choose to make ourselves happy over truth, and if our "thoughtful life" is based upon something untrue, does that mean we prefer a lie? If we bend the truth to suit us, so we are happy with it, isn't that doing the exact something?
Happiness can also be more or less ever-present and the bedrock of a thoughtful life well lived.
@fmf saidWhat I WAS getting at was nothing but asking the questions I asked. If you want to turn this into another discussion start your own OP.
Expand upon what you are getting at. Give an example, in the context of what I said, of "something untrue" and something that is "a lie".

If you don't want a discussion, why did you start a thread on a discussion and debate forum?

@kellyjay saidI just try to address the OP as it is presented. Judging by all your dancing around, you have some regrets about your clumsy OP. I think the "truths" that you are gagging to talk about are religious/spiritual ones. But you ruled that out early on.
Do you attempt to make make every OP you enter to be about what you think they should be?
@fmf saidYea between the two of us only one of us knows why the OP was written the other is inserting their non-offensive opinion.
