@ghost-of-a-duke saidWell, when I speak about my perspective on this matter, I am only speaking for myself. Isn't it the same for you?
And who gets to say, definitively, what is true and untrue?

@ghost-of-a-duke saidWhy are you asking me the same question again?
So, he is not delusional to believe in angels but only becomes delusional if he says he has encountered one? Is that really your position?
@ghost-of-a-duke saidI don't think you have thought through the price you are paying by contorting yourself in order to "have someone's back".
I don't think you have thought this through.

@ghost-of-a-duke saidI'd say so. Unless they can provide evidence that proves that the encounter was real and true in an objective sense.
Are all theists who claim to have a divine encounter also delusional?

@ghost-of-a-duke saidAlready asked. Already answered.
Looking for clarity.
So Dive is not delusional to believe in angels but only becomes delusional if he says he has encountered one? Is that really your position?

@fmf saidTo recap. Christians who believe they have had encounters with angels, or indeed God Himself are delusional in your book, but it is not ok to describe biblical accounts like the garden of Eden as fairy tales? Have I got that right?

@ghost-of-a-duke saidI don't use the words "delusional" and "fairy tales" when discussing theism with believers because I don't think it serves the discourse well.

@ghost-of-a-duke saidI didn't dodge it. If he believes that angels are real, then I think it is a delusion.
But is he currently delusional for believing in angels? That is the part of the question you dodged. (With good reason).

@fmf saidThe existence of angels is a critical part of Christianity with them playing significant roles in key biblical events. So you 'are' using words like delusional when referring to theistic beliefs.

@ghost-of-a-duke saidEither way, from my perspective, if he believes that angels are real or he believes he has interacted with them - both - are delusional beliefs.
If he believes in angels it logically follows that he might encounter one.

@ghost-of-a-duke saidBut I am in a discourse with you - not a theist - and you, like me, believe that angels don't exist.
