@ghost-of-a-duke saidNice guess, but not true.
The default position was the nonexistence of gods. They only came into being (not literally) when men created them to explain the mysteries of the universe and lessen the blow of mortality.
Besides, it's not logical or rational. Here's why;
You say, "men created them (gods) to explain the mysteries of the universe", but you maintain they're not literal (real), but were 'created' by man.
That assertion is based on a false logic. The truth is man invented "gods" to worship because they didn't know the one true God, and if they did, they didn't want to know God because God holds man to account for his deeds.
Man didn't invent gods to explain mysteries. Today, even in this modern era, man has many gods. Just look around. Man worships himself and everything he covets. The list is endless, and it's all destroying man.
Now they're threatening to light it up.
@ghost-of-a-duke saidShow me where it's written that Brahma created the universe.
Doesn't the existence of everything also evidence the existence of Brahma?
Now, you'll say this certainly isn't true, even though you don't know this for certain.

@josephw saidThere is no false logic. Men created the 'idea' of gods. That's what humans do, they problem-solve.

@josephw saidOh yeah! I'm progressing, "...toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus",
Oh yeah! I'm progressing, "...toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus", who btw, both created and sustains the universe.
Otherwise I'd be dead. 🙂
Good for you; same here.
who btw, both created and sustains the universe.
Yes, I leaned that in 5th grade Sunday school also.
@ghost-of-a-duke saidRight! Man "problem-solves" God by inventing the idea he doesn't exist. Excuses him from being accountable to his creator.
There is no false logic. Men created the 'idea' of gods. That's what humans do, they problem-solve.
Man thinks that idea solves his problem.
@ghost-of-a-duke saidWhen? I mean when. When was that written, and by whom?
You mean the trailokya in the Vedas?
'When all these became assembled by force of energy of Supreme God, this universe came into being.'
Doesn't even sound right. And it doesn't say "God created" either.
It's a counterfeit. And where's the rest of it? Does it say how Brahma made everything, and in what time frame?
@kingdavid403 saidSo which do you believe? Creation, evolution or both?

@josephw saidI've already told you a couple of times now in this thread.

@kingdavid403 saidMy bad. I wasn't really reading your posts until you started talking to me over the last few pages.
I've already told you a couple of times now in this thread.
I guess I missed where you said exactly what you believe. No need to repeat yourself. I'll dig it up if necessary.
@josephw saideverything that exists, exists. i accept that.
Your imagination disallows the evidence which is the existence of everything.
The atheist says, "no no no, everything already existed, therefore everything wasn't created".
The atheist knows that for certain, even though he doesn't know that for certain.
you believe the key to that is in the bible yet from a religious standpoint mankind would fall whereas science and technology advance the human race. the bible has offered no advancement and is just as much the key to life... not at all.
@executioner-brand said"everything that exists, exists. i accept that."

Would be difficult to deny.
"you believe the key to that is in the Bible"
I do.
" yet from a religious standpoint mankind would fall"
True. Religion is not the way.
"whereas science and technology advance the human race."
Of a truth. It also has the potential to destroy, if in the wrong hands.
"the bible has offered no advancement"
It offers an unequal morality, and eternal life
"and is just as much the key to life... not at all."
Jesus said, "I am the way..."
@josephw saidif the science in the bible was truth don't you think there would be something science could use? there isn't because it's just a belief.

@divegeester saidI'm sure it's more of a rictus.
It always makes me smile when I see you make a demand like this; it’s as though you are trying to convince people that you’ve actually read all the material where it might have been written.
