@ghost-of-a-duke saidNot so sure about #1.
Two things are true in this thread:
1. As an atheist, I don't help anybody love Jesus.
2. Christians have called you (sonship) blasphemous for your deification grandeurs.
Getting Christians to defend their faith and getting them in the Holy Bible is bringing them closer to Jesus Christ, imo.
@kevin-eleven saidI don't support any version of Christianity. But I am able to read a book and understand its meaning.
At the risk of getting kicked out of the Chamber again, may I ask why you seem to support one version or maybe even several versions of Christianity against another version? Seems a bit orthodox for a non-believer.
So, for example, if a particular Christian claimed the Bible supported the existence of Leprechauns, I could say with confidence that this was untrue. (Even while believing the entire book was a work of fiction). This would be no different than rejecting a person's claim that the Lord of the Rings contained Leprechauns.
So, when sonship claims the Bible supports the notion of man becoming God, I similarly reject his reading of scripture.
@pb1022 saidYes, that might be true.

@kevin-eleven saidGhost rejects the deity of Christ.

As an atheist, he could hardly do otherwise.
Believing Jesus Christ existed and walked the earth is a no-brainer. Even secular historians believe that.
Believing Christians are under the law is also a no-brainer for an atheist. It devalues to the point of irrelevancy what Christ accomplished on the cross and keeps Christians feeling defeated and unworthy of God’s love.
The rest of what Ghost posts seems to be mostly trashing the Bible.
@sonship saidSo far, one Christian has said my atheism helps them to love Jesus more.
@Ghost-of-a-DukeWhere is the Christian support for your idea of human deification?
Anybody?
Fine with me. Take a poll.
Fine with me.
In fact I'll do one too.
Does Ghost of a Duke help you to love the Lord Jesus more ?
Anybody ?
How many have supported your claim of deification?
@pb1022 saidIf you valued the integrity of the Bible you would defend it more from false preachers.

@ghost-of-a-duke saidI think you are wrong since I believe it is the critical point of all scripture that God became a man so we could be saved.

@kellyjay saidHow is that relevant to what I wrote?

Did you speed read it?
@ghost-of-a-duke saidIn that case you also reject the interpretation of Athanasius, who was and still is considered a Church Father.

RE leprechauns: As I am sure you are well aware, there is not a single mention of domestic housecats in the Bible, yet most people of the present day could present evidence that domestic housecats do exist.
@kevin-eleven saidI simply put his comments into context for you. I don't have to believe them to do that.

'They wear pride like a jeweled necklace and clothe themselves with cruelty. These fat cats have everything their hearts could ever wish for!'
Psalm 73:6-8
@ghost-of-a-duke saidOn this topic, I think it would be better to reject the unfounded, unbiblical, and unhistorical notion of the inerrancy of the Bible, and maybe think of it more as a "coat of many colors".

@kevin-eleven saidIndeed. The Bible is riddled with contradictions and errors.

@ghost-of-a-duke saidI read it twice now, and I think even if you are talking about the scripture or someone's interpretation of it, saying they are wrong about a correct fact puts you in a place of being wrong about that point.

@ghost-of-a-duke saidIs that from the New Revised Hello Kitty translation?

@ghost-of-a-duke saidIt is a complex book, and I'm afraid I have to disagree with your assessment here too.
Indeed. The Bible is riddled with contradictions and errors.
