@chaney3 saidWhat are you gonna do? Punch them in the face?
Ever read Left Behind?
The 'wrong' ones are doomed. Why pat them on the back and say "hey, good for you".
Stop stroking people to 'play nice'.
What does "Love your neighbor, even as ye love yourselves" mean to you?
Here's your homework assignment, cheney: Talk to someone not from your religion about their religion. Listen to what they have to say. Try to come up with a reason why what they have to say is inferior to what you would say were the conversation reversed. Hint: If you can, then you fail.
Let's face the facts here.
Religion is a deeply personal subject. No one is going to change anyone's mind here.
Given that, why not learn to live with others who believe differently? Or are you really SO superior to those who believe differently? As I said, try to treat people with basic respect and basic human kindness regardless of their religion (or lack thereof) and perhaps, just perhaps, the world might start to be a better place to live.
Treat them the way you want to be treated. Stop talking like a Christian, and start being a Christian.
@suzianne saidI really don't understand your point.

If the disciples had your attitude, if Paul had your attitude, there would be NO Christians today.
Loving your neighbor means wanting them to know the truth, to help them now, and for their eternity. Love is not shrugging your shoulders and telling them that Buddha is just fine.

So while you're pacifying your atheist friends, you do them NO real favor.
@chaney3 saidAre a Christian or non Christian chaney3?

@fmf saidBecause no matter how cordial Suzianne may be to you, or Ghost, or the Buddhist, in the end.....she knows SHE is right.
In what way do you think an adult atheist would be find what Suzianne said "pacifying"?
She'll be nice to you, but so what. In the end, she did you no justice.
@chaney3 saidThis isn't the time of Christ, cheney. We aren't establishing anything new. There are no more prophets.

The guy down the street, who happens to be Muslim, just wants to be free to worship his God, just like you. To support his family, just like you. To love this country, just like you.
If he's "just like you", then why treat him worse than you would want to be treated? Because he worships a different God? Really?
I'm not saying never speak to him about Christianity, but do it respectfully. Choose an appropriate time, don't shove it down his throat. And listen to him when he speaks of Islam. Is that so hard? Isn't this how you would wish to be treated? WHY treat him any differently?
Jesus SAYS to "Love your neighbor, even as ye love yourselves". Why would you not DO this? Do you, in fact, follow Jesus, or is your "Christianity" just lip service?
Why are the people most in need of learning about Christianity always Christians themselves?
@suzianne saidSuzianne, if you don't convert that Muslim neighbor to Christianity, and he dies, what have you really accomplished?

How is he supposed to face Jesus?
Tell me.
Respecting someone else's religion is fine, I get that, but you have assisted them in a possible eternity of regret. For what?
You are relying more on your Psychology Today magazine than your duty as a Christian.
@chaney3 saidDo you think that Muslim neighbor doesn't think Allah will smile on you when you die? Of course he doesn't. But he's not shoving a Quran in your face, is he?

What gives you the right to dictate to him what he should think? What gives you the right to select his God for him? Is he not human? Does he not have free will to make his choice, free from coercion? Is he not your neighbor, whom YOUR God HAS told you to treat with love, as you would wish to be treated? Would you want him all up in your face about how you are going to hell if you don't convert to his religion?
For God's sake, man, give him some dignity, some respect. He's made up his mind. You're not changing it. The only thing you will accomplish is to treat him as far LESS of a human being than YOU would wish to be treated, which is a DIRECT disobeying of Jesus' commandment. All you're going to do is lose a friend, and you can be sure that Jesus himself will ask you to justify THAT at Judgement.
@suzianne saidI'm a little surprised by your replies.

If you truly believe the only way to God is through Jesus, then how can you be so indifferent on knowing where all these people are going when they die?
I expected something else from you.

Some will choose God. Some will choose another God. Some will choose no God.
People do not make this choice lightly. And most are not flip about it. Their choice matters to them. They are as sure of their eventual reward as you.
Why not do as Jesus says and treat them as we wish to be treated? Show them respect and love them, as Jesus said. And frankly, if I may say so, their choice is actually none of your damned business.
And, just as frankly, I do not care what you expect from me. You do not have to live with me. I do.
