@secondson saidThis may or may not be true about other aspects of my life, but I am open to the possibility of supernatural causality.
You are extremely closed minded.
@secondson saidWhat I said was: Religions give billions and billions of people meaning, purpose and solace. I would not describe it as "a waste of the mind".
Your condescension is noted.
Surely you agree with me?
@fmf saidGod describes you as a fool. And if you had an open mind you'd try to find out why.
I describe myself as an agnostic atheist.
I, on the other hand, refrain from making a self-diagnosis and labeling myself anything. Doing so has a ring of arrogance to it.
Instead I see myself as what God says I am. I'm alive because someone greater than me has caused it, and only the truly open minded can comprehend and understand that concept.
@secondson saidBut I do know why Christians cite this. It has been discussed here many times. However, you saying "God describes you as a fool" doesn't amount to much of a discussion point if the discussion is with an agnostic atheist.
God describes you as a fool. And if you had an open mind you'd try to find out why.
@secondson saidYou should feel free to define, and confine yourself within, whatever boundaries you want.
Without "boundaries" an "open mind" is in chaos.
@secondson saidI've given several decades of attention to Christianity, both as a Christian and as a non-Christian.
Of course not. You're far too open minded for that.
@secondson saidDo you not label yourself a believer in Jesus?
I, on the other hand, refrain from making a self-diagnosis and labeling myself anything. Doing so has a ring of arrogance to it.
@secondson saidI have no difficulty comprehending the concept and belief that people are alive because someone greater than them has caused it to be so. It's not a difficult concept to understand.
Instead I see myself as what God says I am. I'm alive because someone greater than me has caused it, and only the truly open minded can comprehend and understand that concept.
@secondson saidIt's my perspective as a non-theist. It underpins the opinions I expressed on page 1 of this thread.
And because you're so open minded you can assert that the "knowledge of God" is "folklore".
@secondson saidDon't you also think that "knowledge of God" is "folklore" in the cases of religions other than your own?
And because you're so open minded you can assert that the "knowledge of God" is "folklore".
