What is it?
(All viewpoints welcome. Leave your firearms at the door.)
John 14:26 - But the Comforter, which is the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

So, is he/she/it a judge or a security blanket? Comforter or executioner?
Terrence McKenna, very cool guy, unfortunately died a few years ago.
Holy Spirit is known variously as...
Ruach in Judaism
Prana/Kundalini in Hinduism
Joriki in Zen
Chi in Taoism
Mannas in Polynesian shamanism
and so on. It appears to be a universal force noted in all spiritual cultures. There was even a psychoanalyst who tried to determine its "scientific" properties (Wilhelm Reich). He called it "orgone energy". He ended up being thrown in prison by the FDA in the 1950s. Apparently they weren't too keen about his work...
This "energy" seems to be present in different expressions or across a broad spectrum of frequencies, from gross (physical energy) to subtle/rarefied (pure intuition or spiritual guidance).
Just don't fall for any religious spiel that claims sole exclusive copyright of this universal Force. Not even Luke Skywalker or George Lucas...
