How can Jesus throne be forever when in fact Jesus “hands over the kingdom to the father?
You are actually telling people that Hebrews 1:8 is wrong.
The One being spoken to is the Son -
"But of the Son, ..." (v.8a).
To the Son it is said that His throne is possessed by Him for eternity.
"But of the Son, 'Your throne, O God, is forever and ever."
The scepter of authority, the throne, and the kingdom possessed by the Son are forever and ever.
So then HOW can we believe this and First Corinthians 15:24 "that the Son delivers up the kingdom to His God and Father, . . ." [/b]
I refuse to make one passage render the other passage wrong.
I choose to believe both.
I trust my God who has told me both.
When the Son delivers up the kingdom to His God and Father it is the continued will of the Father that the Son reign forever and ever. The act of humility is not what one would imagine as the Father dismissing the "office of son" or terminating the Son's kingdom and authority.
And when was the Son NOT subject to the Father anyway?
He delivers up the kingdom to His God and Father. Don't blame me for what the Bible said. It said "His God and Father".
And it is the eternal plan and will of the Father that the Son who is so subject reign in His kingdom forever and ever. Hebrews 1:8
Otherwise it would be a lie - "But of the Son, 'Your throne, O God, is forever and ever, and the scepter of uprightness is the scepter of Your kingdom." .
But there is something more. In the Son a God-man reigning forever and ever He is now joined with many brothers - God-men. Over them all He is anointed with exultant joy. And they are His partners.
"You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness; therefore God, Your God, has anointed You with the oil of exultant Joy above Your partners" (v.9)
The partners are His many brothers. They do not partake of His Godhead.
But they are His partners co-reigning with Him.
They exult. But He over all of them exults.
Incidentally, the sons of God reign forever and ever also. (Rev. 21:7;22:5)
It makes no sense that the Son's office is terminated yet the many sons reign forever and ever.
@sonship saidYour ability to discern and understand is poor. The expression for ever and ever is one of those phrases that must be interpreted with some caution. Most of the time it means for an era, for a long time, for time and time again.
To the Son it is said that His throne is possessed by Him for eternity.
"But of the Son, 'Your throne, O God, is forever and ever."
And here "
So shall I keep thy law continually for ever and ever.
(Psalms 119:44 KJV)
It means until the writer dies, clearly
You are one teacher that people should avoid like the plague.
"Even as also in another place He says "You are a Priest FOREVER according to the order of Melchizedek" (Heb. 5:6)
The eternal Son is an eternal King.
And the eternal Son is also an eternal Priest.
So we adore the Lord Jesus. And He ever lives to intercede for us to save us to the uttermost. (Heb. 7:25)
"For it is testified, "You are a Priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek." (Heb. 7:17)
