The thread topic - "Why Did Jesus Say He was the Temple?"

So, anyone, Why do you think?

He COULD have just said "Destroy my body and in three days I will raise it up." Why didn't He just say THAT if THAT is what He meant ?

He said, though ---

" ... Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up." (See John 1:19)

That saying got Him into much trouble in His trials and at His crucifixion. witnesses came forward at His trial and reminded the judges that He had said that.

" ... though many false witnesses came forward, But later two came

And said, This man said, I am able to destroy the temple of God and build it up in three days.

And the high priest stood up and said to Him, Do You answer nothing? What is it that these testify against You? "(Matt. 26:60b-62)

They hated those words. But they didn't even get the quotation accurate.

Then again as He hung upon the cross, crucified -

"And those who were passing by blasphemed Him, wagging their heads and saying,

You who destroy the temple and build it in three days, save Yourself! If You are the Son of God, come down from the cross!" (Matt. 27:39,40)

Any thoughts on why Jesus said what He said ?

You’re lying, Karoly. I do none of what you claim. Are you upset I called you out for repeatedly mentioning how you spent $15 on someone?

Suddenly karoly-acze is very concerned about a bad name thought of Christianity !

Somehow I never noticed in all these posts of yours that you cared about such things.
Somehow it seemed that to you the badder the name the better.

Do you know that the New Testament says that we know Jesus in the flesh no longer?

" ... even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him so no longer." (2 Cor. 5:16)

So you are right and the Apostle Paul is incorrect?
