I don't see how the definition of belief is a difficult thing at all. A belief is a firmly held opinion or conviction that an idea is true or that something exists. Every noun in that sentence is the function of a thought or thoughts. Nothing to do with the human organ that pumps blood.

You’re still on “the human organ that pumps blood?” Do you get some sort of a royalty every time you write that phrase? We’re talking about the difference between thoughts and beliefs.

So nothing in your definition of “belief” is external? It’s just something “firmly held” by the person who has it?

Beliefs are kinds of thoughts. All beliefs are thoughts. Not all thoughts are beliefs. That's the difference between thoughts and beliefs.

My definition is as follows:

A belief is a firmly held opinion or conviction that an idea is true or that something exists.

Rather than ask me questions that do not necessarily demonstrate that you have actually read my definition, offer a definition of your own that does not rely on poetic or sentimental metaphors.

Let's see.

Almost as tautological as when you said the definition of death was being dead.

At least you’re getting better.

BTW, your claim that suzianne and I are “pissing in the pool” sounds an awful lot like projection, amigo

Ok, so your definition is entirely internal. That’s all I was asking.

Not up to the challenge of offering your definition then? You asked me for mine. I immediately offered it to you. You not going to reciprocate?

It's not "tautological".

I guess the blind hog found his acorn. You’re right - your definition of death was tautological but your definition of belief is not. It’s just inaccurate and silly.

Anyone who tries to deflect or smear disagreement as being that of "haters" is "pissing in the pool". So I don't know what you mean by "projection" because I can't remember calling anyone here in this community a "hater".

No, you just endlessly ask the same questions over and over after they’ve already been answered, misrepresent what other posters have said and ignore questions you can’t answer without exposing what you think is rubbish.

Beliefs are kinds of thoughts. All beliefs are thoughts. Not all thoughts are beliefs.

Robins are kinds of birds. All robins are birds. Not all birds are robins. I am only spelling it out in this way because you keep asking me what the difference is between beliefs and thoughts and you seem to think that I have somehow suggested that they are "absolute synonyms".

Anyone actually doing stuff like this isn't "pissing in the pool" to my way of thinking. I have used the term "pissing in the pool" to refer to you claiming you have seen "haters" on this site in the few days you have been here.

I suggested that once and moved on after your response.

I most recently asked if your definition of belief had an external factor to it and you indicated that it did not, that it was only something “firmly held.”

What is your definition of belief? I gave you mine when you asked for it.
