Atheists can never be righteous with God - for starters, because they don’t believe in Him and don’t have His Holy Spirit within them!
But since you think good works make one righteous, perhaps you can tell us all the good works you did in the past week and how much of that week was devoted to good works.

You just don’t understand.
One becomes saved by belief and faith in Christ, and it is this belief and faith in Christ that leads to the indwelling of God’s Holy Spirit, and “good works” are the manifestation of the Holy Spirit’s influence in changing a believer’s heart and mind to becoming more Christ like.

You sound very judgmental, brother. Are you familiar with the parable of the Pharisee and tax collector who went to a mountain to pray? I would suggest that you Google it.
Originally posted by @fmfNot quite. Being the sole caretaker for my elderly mother and donating money to Christian-based charities were two of the “good works” I mentioned. I saw no reason to spend time thinking of and listing others.
We know that your 'good works' are looking after one of your relatives and giving some money to charity, and that you think you are becoming like Christ because of stuff you think about yourself. We do know stuff about you because you have talked about it
And I am becoming more Christ like based on God’s Holy Spirit, which indwelt me when I accepted Christ as my Lord and Saviour.

Ok, fellows. Thanks for the convo; heading out now. Remember to crack open the Bible tonight and get your heart in the right way to worship and honor God in your prayers!
Reading the bible and not following it is mouth worship

Oh no, it's true, I am not very smart. I just put my head down and try to deduce what I can. It’s a bit much to accuse me of having false humility. Even if you thought that was the case, surely, you’d just smile, nod, and hope that I can continue in the path until my humility becomes true. It’s quite embarrassing to me to be accused of actually havin ...[text shortened]... each everyone else here, your position on this matter and then we can all learn something great.
Well, I'm not going to argue the point. You'd know better than me. I must have been mistaken.
Interesting how you've once again claimed that you're not very smart, yet your pronounced defensiveness about it indicates that you actually think otherwise. Wonder what's up with that.
