Then how come Missouri beat Illinois in Champagne while Illinois beat Ohio State in Columbus? And West Virginia was ranked #3 in the preseason AP poll, so the one who's obviously not in his right mind is you.
The BCS system doesn't work and Mizzou vs. WVU is a travesty.
It's time for an 8 team playoff.

Ohio State plays in tougher conference than West Virginia and played a tougher schedule. I'm not sure why they aren't ranked ahead.
As for your who beats who argument. Notre Dame beats Stanford. Staford wins at USC. How come people don't say the whole PAC-10 stinks.
Hawaii beat absolutely no one. Unless you count Boise State, who lost at home by ...[text shortened]... nd is costantly mentioned as part of the garbage out of conference schedule Ohio State plays.
Defrauder is impervious to logic.
Originally posted by Red NightWhat a logical answer! Besides Hawaii, Missouri (if it wins the Big 12 championship) and West Virginia have the best records. And West Virginia has something Ohio State doesn't; an impressive out of conference victory against a automatic conference team which is bowl eligible i.e. a drubbing of Mississippi State.

I already said there should be an 8 team playoff with the champions of the 6 BCS Conferences and two mid-majors or independents. About time you got on board.
Originally posted by poundleeHow in the world is the Big Ten a "tougher" conference than the Big East THIS YEAR (not in the Woody Hayes era). As already mentioned, the Big Ten doesn't have a single win against a BCS automatic conference team with a winning record. The Big East has three: West Virginia over Miss St., Cinncinnati over Oregon State and S. Florida AT Auburn. The first two were blowouts. Get into this century, poundlee; the Big Ten is the worst of the 6 conferences.

The Big East is the worst of the six BCS conferences. In fact they ask a whole bunch of ESPN analysts a few weeks ago and it was almost unanimous. The Big 10 has more top 25 teams and is ranked ahead in almost any ranking. This has nothing to do with any previous year where the disparity is even greater.

Not just my opinion or the pollsters opinion that the Big east is the worst conference:

That list was compiled on November 7 and the Big Ten is rated a single point above the Big East AND all the "experts" quoted thought OSU or Michigan would go undefeated. An awful lot has happened in college football since November 7th in case you haven't noticed.
At any rate, I don't much care what "experts" think; please address the point I raised above where Big east teams have 3 quality out of conference wins while the Big Ten has a big fat zero.

The Big East is rated 3rd, slightly behind the PAC-10. Guess who's 6th?
Same story.
Originally posted by poundleeNo, it really doesn't. 2/3 of the BCS rating is based on the opinions of coaches and sportswriters. They are fallible human beings with prejudices and biases.
if you want to talk about what counts, lets talk about BCS ratings.
Big 10 Ohio State #3 Illinois is #15, Wisconsin #18
Big East West Virginia #2, South Florida #21 Cincinnati #23
Doesn't look like the Big East is better or does the BCS not count???
You need to support YOUR opinion with facts, rather than relying on someone else's opinion. All three of those Big East teams have quality wins against non-conference opponents; none of the Big Ten teams do.
EDIT: In the computer ratings, South Florida is ahead of Illinois and Cincinnati is ahead of Wisconsin. And the drop off in quality after the top three teams is far more drastic in the Big Ten than the Big East.

If schools like Hawaii want to play with the "big boys" in the NC perhaps they should play with the "big boys" during the regular season. I mean, why don't they play schools like USC?
Hawaii coach June Jones wanted his football team to open the season at Michigan. The Wolverines wouldn't play the Warriors and instead hosted Division I-AA Appalachian State, which beat Michigan 34-32 in one of the biggest upsets in college football history.
Hawaii was scheduled to play Michigan State this season, but the Spartans paid $250,000 to cancel the game. Jones tried to replace the Spartans with Southern California, but even the Trojans wanted no part of quarterback Colt Brennan and the Warriors' high-octane offense.
"We offered to play everybody," Jones said. "No one wanted to play us."

There are reasons why the voters vote the way they vote.
The Big ten beat Notre Dame three times. In normal years that would be good wins but it is worth mentioning that the pac ten lost twice.
The big 10 beat Washington. Your favorite team Hawaii's best win is against a team that lost to Hawaii.
Let's look head to head
Michigan State beat Pittsburgh
Illinois and Iowa both beat Syracuse.
With the exception of Illinois, none of those teams are particularly great, but if one conference continually beats another conference I think you know who is better.
Originally posted by poundleeYou're a complete joke; so what if the #2 Big Ten team can beat the worst team in the Big East?? That PROVES the Big Ten is a better conference???? What a clown. The other games pitted average Big Ten teams against the worst Big East teams; even at that Michigan State barely beat Pitt on MSU's home field.

The Pac-10 makes it a habit to smash the best Big Ten teams; Oregon went to Michigan this year and destroyed them.
