Yes, Ohio St. vs. Oregon in the Rose Bowl. Should be a good game.

Originally posted by whodeyUSC is great and so are many southern teams but there is no bigger joke in college football then having the games that count the most in certain teams backyard every year and then talking about how great teams that win "home" games are. To me equalizing home field advantage in post season games is far more important than any playoff system.

Originally posted by scacchipazzoI really think Fla can beat Alabama. Did you watch the Fla/LSU game? Florida smothered LSU, LSU only made it to the 50 yard line once in the 4th quarter. That was a home game for LSU.
You really think FL can beat Alabama? Alabama was finally truly impressive even though I feel LSU was obbed. The bad callas and the non callas were terrible. Cinci will fall gainst W.Virginia and make it to Pitt with a 9-1 record. Nat Chanpionship game should prove interesting. Txas' D is gelling, however and may be much strnger than Florida's or Alabama's. The one strong point for Bama is that omnster RB, INgram!
Of course LSU was robbed against Alabama.. but that doesn't mean they would've won. It probably did but we'll never know. What Florida has lacked in offense, they've come through with defense.
The Gators have one more test before the SEC championship game.. South Carolina.
Originally posted by SmookiePNo disagreement there. LSU was robbed, but worse still was the play in which they lost Jefferson. The defender clearly led with the crown of the helmet into Jefferson's chest. Offical did not see this yet they saw a ticky tacky pass interference against LSU later in the game and failed to uphold the interception. Like last night's game between Cinci and W Virg. I could not belive they voerturned that call and ruled it was a TD. None of the replays showed clear evidence the ball broke the plain. It looked like it might have, but under the rules itwas not enough to overturn the call on the field.

It would be great if we could always extrapolate one result against another with the same team getting beat telling us the probale outcome of another game. Doesn't quite work that way. FL is the better team on paper, yet they have had trouble on offense. Their D is likely the best in college. Today should tell us a lot. I think Bama will have trouble agaisnt MSU, but SC seems to also do well against FL. We'll see. Most other games are uninteresting.
Whodey! Hope you're happy! That was a big win indeed. Those two coaches went soft and conservative at the end. Bad mistake. Worked for Tressl, though.
I would love to see OSU-STanford in the Rose Bowl. That would be a heck of a matchup. I enjoyed the total destruction of USC!
I don't have CBSCS so I cannot watch the TCU game! Wah!!!! Not a sports bar kind of guy so I'll wait for halftime highlights.

I have to say, after losing to Purdue, I never dreamed OSU would be going to a
Rose Bowl. Hats off to Iowa, they played their hearts out. And who was that back up QB? He looked better than their starter. As for OSU's back up QB, he still hasn't figured out how to throw a spiral. 😛
Now I guess its off to face Oregon. Eeeks!!
Originally posted by whodeyThat was Vanderberg. Really excellent freshman. Cute mom in the stands, too. Indeed Iowa played to win except at the end when they had the ball and about 1:18 and decided to sit on it. That's where the game was lost.

The Stanford game was also exciting until Stanford pulled away for good. I knew Stanford would beat USC at home. No one would like to play a streaking team like Stanford right now. I still think they can make the rose bowl. Unless not enough games left to play. Hvae not looked at the standings. Arizona may have a better shot despite the loss to Cal because of tiebreak by beating Stanford.
Texas gave a good showing, but the pollsters may favor TCU because of their total destruction of Utah. My dream would be TCU versus Texas in the championship game. If TCU makes it to the big game I think they have a better shot than Texas does. Neither Bama nor FL could beat TCU, but Texas might, whereas Texas matches up poorly with both FL and Bama.

As far as TCU going to the NCG, we all know the name of the game is how teams travel. That is why Texas and Florida will face off, assuming of course neither does anything stupid. Texas I think will be OK since there is not much competition in their own division this year and they play no one else of merit. As far as Florida, all they have to do is get by Alabama, which they seem to find a way to do every year.
Originally posted by whodeyI don't know this year. Bama's running game is impressive. That will wear FL D down. TCU could probably beat any of the top three! TCU also happens to have a good D.

OSU would do itself a favor and stop picking wildcat QB's and find the next Vanderberg. Iowa will be scary with this kid next year!
NCG? Too much to ask for the best teams to end up playing in it. PLayoffs far in the future.

Well my Buckeyes won again!! The formula is to run, run, and run some more. Oh yea, and pass the occastional screen to try and keep them honest and then just let the "D" win the game.
Ok, so Tressel knows what we know, which is that TP is a running back in QB uniform. In fact, that team up north knew what they were going to do as well because they stacked the line and waited. It just so happens that even though they knew what OSU was going to do, they could not stop it. They are just that bad defensivly. So will this formula work outside the Big Ten in the Rose Bowl match up? Sadly, I don't see how, but maybe TP will amaze us all with a throwing arm that he has been hiding all these years. I can dream, can't I? ðŸ˜
Originally posted by whodeyWhomever they end up playing if they keep their current game plan it should work just fine! PAC10 is tough too, though. Arizona should have beaten Oregon just about now unless some miracle happened!
