Originally posted by shortcircuitI expected A&M to hang really tough against the Longhorns. Same happened the National Championship year 05, a feather in the cap potentially for A&M as it was this year. A&M certainly has nothing to hang their heads about and neither does Texas. Texas showed true grit indeed!
Smooks, in rivalry games, throw records out the window, especially if only one team has something to play for. In the case of Texas A&M, they will not be going to a bowl game, so playing Texas on national tv was their bowl game. They played better than they normally would, and Texas probably took them too lightly.
The same is true of all rival games.
Originally posted by scacchipazzoI never said I thought TX was overrated... top 5 in the country all year isn't what I'd call that. Once they play teams ranked higher than them, and beat them, then it can be said they were underrated. I know all about rivalries, the equalizing factor is no secret to me, but thanks for the education shorty.
Colt McCoy gets almost 500 yards of offense, 175 on the ground and you think they're overrated?
Just be careful who you claim to be not as good before your team has played them.
Originally posted by SmookiePThat's irrespective of my team playing either of the top two. For all I know TX may indeed lose to either of them. What I am saying is both Bama and FL remain undefeated through bad calls in their favor or non calls. Texas had no such help. Frankly TCU might beat any of the top three yet we'll never know, will we? Oregon might also. That's the greatness of college ball! That we even have these discussions is testament of the time, effort and preparation thes top four teams have put into winning and staying a nose ahead of the competition.

Originally posted by GalaxyShieldIt should be a good game. I never discount Tressel's ability to gameplan with a month or so in time. It all depends on how stoutly OSU plays on D. They can be streaky, but if on game they are really good!
The Ducks will destroy OSU.
Congrats to the Duck nation. Last night's was a great game and Oregon St has nothing to hang their heads about!
Originally posted by scacchipazzoAnd there lies the difference between the two teams. One has a QB for a QB and the other has a running back for a QB. Considering that fact, I'm not sure how one can compete against the other. You watch, TP will not be allowed to throw more than 10 yards down field, if that. However, if and when he begins to fall behind in score he will be forced to throw. I, however, will turn the TV off before watching the ensuing apoctolyptic horror. The bottom line is, if Ohio State can't run the ball effectively and keep it away from the Oregan high flying offense, game over. All they have to do is stack the line. Meatchicken tried it, but they simply were not good enough defensivly to do so. My guess is that the Ducks are good eonugh.
Should indeed be a great game! I enjoyed lst night's game a lot, OSU's leftie QB is a real NFL prospect! Great arm, gutsy and hung in there until the end!
Originally posted by whodeyI think it will be a great game and no blowout. Why? Because OSU's D will be by far the toughest it has faced. It should be a close game and very entertaining indeed! Tressel game plans quite well. He has a month of film watching to do. Chip Kelly is aloso a great coach!

Congrats to Arizona. USC loses again!! Is it all a dream?
Anyhew, I was shocked at Alabama's dominance of Florida....somewhat. Congrats to the Cremson Tide!!
As for Texas vs. Nebraska, it is not over yet but it is like watching Ohio State play itself. Both are offensivly challanged. In fact, I think the matchings would be better if Texas played Ohio State and Oregon played Alabama. My guess is that both Ohio State and Texas will get their arses handed to them....again. As I have said before, I think the Rose Bowl should either be between the Big 10 and the Big 12 or it should be between the SEC and the PAC 10. Am I wrong? If so, when is the last time the Big Ten has won a Rose Bowl? In addition, everytime Ohio State plays Texas it is always a good geme. There have been no blow outs and they seem to be on equal footing.
Wow, I can't believe that Texas - Nebraska ending.
So all that remains is going through the hoops of the NC game. Normally I'm a bit more of a decide-it-on-the-field, don't-play-the-game-before-the-game kind of guy, but I don't see how Texas is going to avoid a serious whuppin at the hands (and feet) of Alabama.
