Well, we came within a few seconds of something I'd never see in the BCS; a mid-major playing in the Championship Game. I'm stunned that Colt McCoy came within a split second of losing the game by letting the clock run out; what kind of brain lock was that? A roll out with 7 seconds on the clock is bizarre.

The Marauder Championship series would be particulary interesting this year with 5 undefeated teams. If you retained the traditional conference bowl ties the Quarter Finals pairings would be:

Rose: Oregon v. Ohio State
Sugar: Alabama v. Boise St.
Orange: Higher rated of Cincinnati/TCU v. Georgia Tech
Fiesta: Texas v. lower rated of Cincinnati/TCU

That would be a lot more interesting and satisfying than what we have now and the whole thing would only require two more games, would keep the major bowl happy and even encourage tougher inter-conference regular season games (since the winners of the 6 BCS conferences would automatically be in the running for the championship).

Why bother with trying to manage the clock when you've got the refs at your back?

Yesterday was nearly a perfect trifecta for me:

Arizona defeated USC
Alabama defeated Florida

If only Nebbish could have pulled it off, that would have made yesterday the best weekend of college football for me this year.

I'm so glad that the greatest player in college football history lost. He even threw an Int to help seal the deal. That was a great game!

I realize this thread is mostly devoted to whining about the refs, but the call putting the second back on the clock was clearly correct. And the Texas kicker still had to make a FG which equalled the longest of his career.

I feel sorry for people who watch thrillers like Cincinnati-Pitt and Texas-Nebraska who after the game is over have nothing to do but cry about officiating. There are bad and questionable calls in every game and if a game comes down to the wire it's always possible to argue that one of them decided the game (on the theory that they may have helped a team score or stop a score). But really what is the point of watching sports if this is all you do?

I feel sorry about people are always have to say something negative about other people's posts. They somehow feel that other people are not allowed to have an opinoin that is different from their own. Such people must have a truely depressing life.

I include myself among those, but my exchanges with you have helped me be more positive (it's an ongoing effort).

There disagreements indeed. I watched all these games and a cal here or there might or might not have made a difference. The Texas call was the right call. The clock mgt was still awful and should not have even been allowed to get this close.

We'll see what the voters have to say about it. I don't see Cinci leapfrogging both TX and TCU. I could see TCU voted ahead of TX and might be a better match to beat Bama.

Notice I did not say that the call was wrong. I said that you don't need to worry about clock management when you've got the refs at your back. Even if it was a wrong call, the call would have been made. There's too much money in the balance.

I hope Alabama kicks Texas all over the field.

TCU would be a better choice than Texas, but come on, this is Texas we are talking about. There is no way the BCS puts TCU in the NCG against Alabama over Texas. Texas is simply the better choice in terms of $$$$ in terms of how they travel and interest in the media.

NO CHANCE!!!

In fact, it would not even surprise me to see McCoy win the Heisman when he is clearly not a good candidate from what I have witnessed this year.

Edit: Not to diss Texas even further, but I think Oregan would be a much better match up against Bama than Texas. Anyone agree?

TCU would destroy Oregon. Texas indeed earned its spot with a defensive thriller. I do not believe Bama can jus dial it in. The big differrence is Texas D is much better than FL's. All TX has to do is study Auburn and Tennessee film. Both those teams shoulda beaten Bama. Aubrun simply repeatedly played up the middle on 1st down for a yard and got itself in to 3rd and long. Tennessee botched the last minute field goal. No team is unbeatable. I predicted Bama would beat FL and was scoffed at. I now predict Texas has a real chance against Bama. TCU would destroy Bama. Or Texas for that matter. But since the NCG will likely be Bama-TX I'm going with the winningest QB in NCAAF history. I think Muschamp with over a month to game plan can solve the Bama riddle! Nver forget. Bama has no Suh. Crosby is a Suh wannabe.

Heisma prediction: Suh. Or Gerhart. Ingram comes in third. McCoy 4th.

By implication it means TX got helped and the call a bad call. I'll leave it as a difference of opinion, but you clearly blame the refs instead of crediting TX for the win.

I'm glad you hope for a TX butt kicking by Bama. It will make the TX win even sweeter!

Yeah, you had to root for Nebraska to do what OU couldn't.

But, then again, OU didn't do too much to anyone. Now Bradford is leaving. Can Stoops be far behind?

You insinuated that the refs had Texas' back with regard to the clock. All I know is I didn't see any flags go against Nebraska all night except for the obvious horse collar and the pass interference call. Colt took a head hit and a late hit out of bounds that were no calls. Don't you dare whine about the officiating.

What bowl is "O who" going to ?????

It is a moot point. Texas has the points. That is the way it is decided...remember? Popularity contest is moot...remember?

I swear you guys will argue what ever side suits you at the time. Texas was clearly the better team last year, and you reveled in the process because it knocked Texas out. This year, Texas takes care of business, wins the process and you want to figure out how to bypass the process to let Cinderella into the ball.

Unreal.

So all that remains is going through the hoops of the NC game. Normally I'm a bit more of a decide-it-on-the-field, don't-play-the-game-before-the-game kind of guy, but I don't see how Texas is going to avoid a serious whuppin at the hands (and feet) of Alabama.
That is why they play the games. Hell, I don't even know why we should show up at all.

If Texas wins the game, it will be declared luck or that Alabama gave it away. Oh wait, this sounds like a Rose Bowl NCS game from 4 years ago. Texas couldn't beat USC. It was going to be an asswhooping of epic proportions as I recall. We played it anyway. Hummm, we won it too. Maybe Texas is a team of destiny. Maybe Alabama shot its wad yesterday. Maybe Alabama will think they have it in the bag.

That is why they play the games.

OU shouldn't go to a bowl at all. We'll probably end up in El Paso.

Even if we lose in that game, at least it won't be a nattional embarrassment like normal. It looks like the Whorns are going to recieve that honor this year.

Big difference between O Who and Texas. We win our bowl games.
