Originally posted by BadwaterThanks for the kind words. Although I agree that some bone headed things were done, in the end I am more disillusioned with the NCAA than I am the scandel. In my opinion, their rules are routinely broken with sparse enforcement here and there. OSU simply got caught. Then you compare the violations that Miami had to OSU and they seem to pale in comparison, yet one is treated harsher than the other. Of course, the knife in the gut is that the NCAA knew before the Sugar Bowl what had happened, but they let them play anyway because of the $$$ involved in the bowl. If you ask me, the hypocrisy in the NCAA makes me want to puke.
You know whodey, I am absolutely no fan of Ohio St. football and I love to cheer their losses - much like Notre Dame and a few other programs - but in no way does that mean that I cheer against a fan like yourself. Ohio St. has really sodomized themself badly and the fan pays the biggest price for their idiocy. Is, or will, Pryor going to suffer for what he ...[text shortened]... know that doesn't even come close to your disdain over what has become of Ohio St. football.

How do you figure Arkansas is no better than Missouri? Arkansas would eat them for lunch!!
As for LSU, of course they are #1. Who cares what the polls show because they will be at the NCG in the end so long as Florida or Alabama don't have a say in it, just like it is year after year. I think placing a Big 12 team ahead of SEC teams for #1 is just plain silly period. I think they do it to create some illusion of parity.

In answer to your question, Arkansas is no better than Missouri, so I don't see Alabama
leapfrogging OU.
However, LSU has three road wins aver ranked teams, so I believe they will move to #1.[/b]
2. OU
3. Alabama
4. Boise State (falling fast)
Originally posted by shortcircuitI didn't hear you complaining when Oklahoma and Oklahoma State played Tulsa. Boise State beat them about as easily as those two did and didn't allow 400 yards to Tulsa.

You also never heard me say Boise was a great team.
You going to pick and choose now???
Boise State certainly appears to be a great team based on their on field performance. The season is young; based on what I have seen I'd say Alabama is probably the best team out there at this point.
Originally posted by no1marauderThen I would say your assessment was way off.

LSU is clearly a better team than Alabama at this point.
They have beaten THREE rated opponents all on the road!!!
Originally posted by shortcircuitNonsense. LSU struggled against Mississippi State and gave up 533 yards to West Virginia. The Crimson Tide easily handled ranked opponents Penn State and Arkansas.

Nonsense. LSU struggled against Mississippi State and gave up 533 yards to West Virginia. The Crimson Tide easily handled ranked opponents Penn State and Arkansas.
Let's look at results for both so far:
Alabama
Kent State @ home W 48-7
Penn State @PSU W 27-11
N. Texas @ home W 41-0
Arkansas @ home W 38-14
LSU
#3 Oregon @ Arlington W 40-27
NW State @ home W 49-3
Miss State @ MSU W 19-6
W. Virginia @ WVU W 47-21
Sorry, LSU has beaten more ranked teams (3-2), the highest ranked team (#3)
and won all three games against ranked teams on the road (3) vs (1) for Alabama.
LSU has scored over 40 points against their opponents in 3 out of 4 games,
while Alabama has done it twice in 4 games (although they got close in one other game)
Alabama has played two cream puffs to one for LSU.
LSU deserves the nod. It will be answered in Tuscaloosa when they play.
For now, the pollsters have it correct.

I don't think it really matters who is ranked higher between LSU and Alabama. If they take care of business, a game will decide who plays for number 1, not polls and opinion.
If OU wins out, they will be playing for the MNC. They'll probably lose, but they will be there.
Originally posted by shortcircuitI'm not sure why a game at a neutral site counts as a "road" win in your mind. But even giving LSU some credit for a tougher schedule (though Mississippi State lost to Auburn and got taken to OT by Louisiana Tech), Alabama looks better. Only one team has given up less points per game and there running game is far better than LSU's. They average 6.2 a carry compared to the LSU's pedestrian 4.0. A better defense and running game usually equals a better team in college football.

If the game is not played on your "home field" it is a road game.
Having control of 75% minimum of the butts in the stand is a strong ally.
Now do you understand????

You shouldn't get as much credit normally for a win in a neutral site as one where you actually have to play against a team on their home turf. In fact, LSU's "neutral" site game was in neighboring Texas which is quite a bit closer to them than it was to Oregon. Contrast that with Boise State playing Georgia in Atlanta.
Originally posted by shortcircuitIt still isn't as grand as an "Away" game which can only be played if one team is a "Home" team.
