I can't see that the tournament victory has been recorded against Cludi's profile?
Must be server issues.

Congrats to Cludi.
However I dont understand why the last game was dragged for so long.
for over 40 moves it was B+K vs K+K and they just kept playing!?

Congratulations cludi! Well deserved, indeed. 🙂

The game kept going because there was still mating material (help mate).

I want to be the first to congratulate you.... after posting this thread I am going to accept draws in the remaining two games of the 2007 Championship.

(I will post again about the tactics used against Gatecrasher and Salin, two superb and sporting opponents. There are lessons here for us all, some surprising.)

2007 Champion.... cludi.
Congratulations Cludi!
You're a worthy successor to my 2-year reign!

I think they kept playing because ET was hoping for a timeout win before the 50 move rule kicked in.

However, I don't understand why in RHP a Bishop/Knight ending is not regarded as a lack of sufficient mating material? Surely Gatecrasher should have been able to claim a draw?

Anyway, congratulations Cludi!

No, not enough material to force mate. However, mate is still possible:

Very well done to English Tal too for making it so far and so close. 🙂 Also Gatecrasher and Salin, who played in the final games of the championship.

Good luck to you all in the 2008 Championship 🙂

Why doesn't the win show up in cludi's profile? 😕

Yes I did spotted that , I just dont understand why you want to drag a game you know is going to be drawn.
Only reason I can come up with is timing out.

Why does always someone blames everything on others?

Perhaps Russ wants to present you the championship personally - so keep a look out for threads of this nature.

I doubt that. Quirine never got his own thread (unless I missed it), and he won it twice. I'm not saying they don't deserve one, though, in fact, they probably do.

This one was quite high profile too, compared to the first championships.
