According to this article, Manchin has already made a proposal that would include universal pre-K, ACA expansion and hundreds of billions to address climate change.https://www.cnn.com/2021/12/20/politics/joe-manchin-offer-to-biden/index.html

Surely there is room for compromise here even if everything progressives wanted is beyond reach for now.

"If Trump does win the 2024 nomination, that would be a complete disaster for the Republican party. I'll grant that."
Is it true that you would still vote for Trump if the other choice would be Sanders?
I'm not answering mumps vs. measles questions. I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. I'd probably vote third party anyway.

Dude, no. You want to change the minds of those who aren't that far gone to change (and even those that are). You want their votes. You want them to become better. You benefit from them changing their minds, you mocking them doesn't benefit you at all.

At the very least, the ones who support republicans because they feel democrats are incompetent and republicans might actually accomplish something
I don't think any of us here expect, or even intend to, change minds. What we do is delve into the thought processes of people who think on opposite poles. Pure curiosity. An example, One of our posts says Manchin is considering universal Pre-k, which libs love, and which we conservatives are not so happy about. For us, it seems that the govt wants to have its citizens on a comfy plantation, dependent upon the govt. I am not far off. Ann and Mike will have more kids now. .....and, vote Democratic. A hell of a plan. Hell in many ways.

"Trumpism" existed for decades, most notably since the rise of Fox news in 2001. Trumpism isn't new it just has a name now. The same ideas Trump spouts off has been aired on Fox news for many years.

You say it Trumpism took over the Republican party "for now". Do you honestly believe this will change? It seems "Trumpism" is only accelerating in the Republican party, wh ...[text shortened]... greed with him at one time but actually opposes Trump and what he stands for? Can you think of any?

Not sure why anyone would be offended by "Jewish Space Laser." Mine works great. Amazon delivered it by drone for Passover. Perfect for cooking Christian babies.

It would make it easier for families with young kids to work and actually lessen their dependence on government.

You are dreaming. But, libs dream, utopia is just around the corner. I know of a lot of young wastrels who could work but do not. In this society, they just need enough to get along. That's it. Esp since they now know the govt will support them, witness all the checks in the mailboxes.
So, you are saying that when the kids start coming, they will lay down their frisbees and take on the world, save for college, retirement, buy a nice house, 2 cars. Yeah, right. No1Marauder, you know full well that once on the govt teat, you do not get off.

You really hate the human race, don't you?

Right wingers seem intent on making as many people suffer and be miserable as possible. It's no wonder such an ideology can't muster majority support anymore.

Luz Cheney and Romney are no longer prominent Republicans. Cheney was demoted and censured, Romney was booed at a Republican convention. I've never heard of the others you mention, and it's probably because they did oppose Trump.

I think you misunderstood my question. What prominent Republican (meaning still respected by conservatives) publicly opposes Trump?

The point of my question is that no such people exist. No conservatives who oppose Trump can win reelection. In fact, a few who did (like Romney) quit politics after opposing Trump. No Trump opponents exist with a realistic chance of maintaining their career. Hence, no (still) prominent Republicans oppose Trump

If this fictional conservative America you claim exists actually did, Cheney wouldn't have been censured, Romney wouldn't have been booed and conservative America wouldn't turn their backs on those who opposed Trump.

So dont try to achieve anymore , kids. Marauder has a safety net under construction right now. Sit back, relax. The way of 200 years doesnt work. Put all ur assets in one fund, your govt will spend it for us from here on out. You wont make as much, but hey, you wont need as much. The “ you won’t need as much“ is a Bernie tenet.
You probably will never get to see the pyramids of Egypt, or Bethlehem, nor sip coffee on the Danube, but hey, you don’t need that.
No more independence or self-reliance. You will not have to take care of yourself, that is all covered under Marauder’s new plan. I have a feeling he will be a socialist, like myself, while the populace lives under Socialism. Trust me they are not the same thing.

It will be another concession to the republicans (plutocracy) which is what Biden really is, he is a republican pretending to be a democrat. DINO.
Remember when Biden gave concessions to the republicans to extend Trump's tax cuts?

LMAO! How many Republicans will vote for universal pre-K, hundreds of billions to alleviate the effects of climate change and ACA expansion?

There's no "concession" in that article except to the reality that without Sinema's vote he can't fully undo the top end of Trump's tax cuts.
