And, of course, having some opinions similar to those portrayed by López Obrador make me one of "them" for you, isn't it?
That's the typical manichean view of the world portrayed by the ruling elite of Mexico, the one that profits from maintaining the status quo. Those ones who make money out of the misery of millions.
Mexico survives thanks to ...[text shortened]... There's no past. The country is still under an iron fist ruling by the exploiters.
So now you're admitedly against legal immigration too... what do you think about the children of immigrants (the largest source of hispanic population growth in the US)... now we're just testing degrees...
I see you are resorting to half wit to fill the empty space left by your lack of own mind.
I understand you, though. The privileges coming from stolen money and/or the knowledge that you serve a bigger master shrink the character of those who are weak minded.
I suggest you keep borrowing arguments and ideas from others. It gives you a sense of safety and certainty, and that's good for your type of person.
There's nothing to be ashamed of living in a comfort zone. Carry on.

You may not care about the poor in Mexico, reducing poverty, and increasing economic opportunities and the living standards of Mexico, but I do, and I did the studying to discuss the science behind it intelligently... although reading and writing creative fiction stories is nice too (good job on that last one).

Is any non-AMLO-government a signal for you to see only cestpools in Mexico?
Maybe that's why you're not there, lol.

The figures I quoted you are not imaginary fantasy land, or do you have anything to refute or debunk these figures? Which country in Latin America do you think has a stronger economy than Mexico's? Venezuela?! (hehe, just kidding)...
The strongest economies in Latin America include Chile, Mexico, Costa Rica, and Brazil. Or to you I guess that would be cestpool, cestpool, cestpool, and cestpool.

Ah, is this the test to see if I'm a racist? Is that what you mean by "cultural undertone"? This is of course the standard, automatically cast aspersion whenever an American insists the US has a right and responsibility to control its borders and immigration policy. You waited a little longer than Seitse usually does, but you did not disappoint.
But t ...[text shortened]... he back and forth between you and Seitse BTW, very interesting to read your points of view.

Will you ever dare question your PRD conspiracy theory and weigh strong objective evidence greater than unsubstantiated slander?
I think it is you who are privileged to serve a University and take that for granted, using it as a means to criticize the working man, the source of funds that Unviersities ultimately derive their funding from. You serve no master and have no real boss or objective to be productive. You merely facillitate the work of others and barely seem qualified to do that (although I hope if we were to discuss Latin American Literature you could demonstrate that my retorts about your education were more a challenge than a fact). juan rulfo or borges anyone?
No privilege or stolen money here, just hard honest work in the real world (not in an ivory tower).

Although I am educated in the U.S. and lived there for a while, it's a scary place due to the de facto racial segregation and other stuff. I prefer high quality of life, like here in Northern Europe. To my standards, lower than this is not desirable... and that includes the U.S.
Re: Mexico, you can provide all the figures you want, but the figures don't feed the millions living in misery nor they solve the problems of the Mexicans escaping the country or using AK-47s to fight in the streets against the army for one or two kilos of cocaine. Mexico is a massive, juicy economy, but there is no fair distribution.
It's useless for the real Mexicans that Carlos Slim is one of the richest dudes in the world, and that few families control the wealth of the country with the help of the corrupt authorities.
As I said, keep posting numbers... that won't change the facts, i.e. the quality of life in Mexico sucks, the corruption is widespread, and the country is becoming a failed state.
That is the problem with economists (or the ones holding the wealth at the cost of others): "if in a country of two people one of them has all the money and the other doesn't, it's not that bad because 50% of the population is o.k. and that's a good number."
Edit 1. Let's have a laugh, what do you say? You are ITAM or Tec, are't you?
Edit 2. I recommend you stop it with the PRD or López Obrador. It makes your arguments look silly, since that's the typical accusation of the right wingers to any social democrat like me... 'you guys' immediately speak about Chávez or Cuba, as if anybody being critical of the system would necessarily be a commie. You would be surprised to know how far I am from the crippled, useless Mexican leftist groups.

Tell me, if an American were to tell you that it's impossible for every person in the world to live in the US, would you call him a racist?

Seitse is an interesting character. Needs a bit more education and logic though, and his entertainment value will rise to a more equal level to the average poster on these forums, though.
