@wildgrass saidyes they existed, as I suspect many here marerider, jimmi et al are.
Change? no. There's a reason why we study history in school.
For example, effeminized boys are a common subject in the writings of ancient Greeks.
The word "malakos" appears in Greek texts and in the New Testament of the Bible with a definition as someone "of indeterminate affinity."
That's what sh76 refers to as gender fluidity I think.
Maybe the next thing Rep ...[text shortened]... crub the history books of Ancient Greek philosophy, so we can pretend effeminate boys never existed.
they were not called women though
@averagejoe1 saidThere's little reason for me to respond to such idiocy, so I won't.
Possibly your weakest post ever. So you say that it is a given that normalcy prevails among people who have operations to make themselves who they are not, whereupon they introduce their new self to an established identified crowd and expect 100% acceptance, as one of that crowd.
Fraught with fraud and the un-natural, hardly a capacity to be mixed with thousands of ...[text shortened]... shall we say, a qualified child. Not the same as the other 9 children in the game. Marauder ?
IF the issue is the supposed physical advantages that some transgender women have over cisgender ones, then something like the NCAA rule makes sense but not a law barring a woman from competing in a sporting event unless she produces a birth certificate showing a certain sex at that time. This is just irrational prejudice and bigotry against a still too often despised minority.

I think you think that people that are not women by birth should be able to compete with people who are women at birth. Is that correct. And how would new words like Cis have anything to do with this basic question? Can you answer in plain English? Even Wm F Buckley spoke in plain English.
@averagejoe1 saidMore Republican Fairy Tales™.
Obama is not sitting on a beach. He and Susan Rice are running the Administration. I can prove this by observing the fact that they are so low key. If they were floating around all the politics, that would mean that they are accessible, visible, whatever, but not officially in. So, since they are not visible, they are IN. He never stopped his transforming of America. He wants to, in the end, be the man who changed America.

@sh76 saidIt's quite telling that an athletic event "hosted by a state school" is the signature example you come up with, "for all legal purposes".
Effeminate boys are fine. Masculine girls are fine. Neither bothers me in the least.
Effeminate boys are boys
Masculine girls are girls
In society, some things are men-only. Some things are women-only and some are segregated by gender.
If a person has Y chromosomes in every non-sperm cell in his body, then he is a male, regardless of how he feels. If he suffers from ...[text shortened]... sted by a state school; though I'm sure you can think of some others if you'll put your mind to it).
Again, you don't need to like it but you're pretending like the existence of transgender humans is a constitutional crisis. What changed is politics and perception, not biology.

OK, well said. But if they don't ask her questions, how can they vote for her? She has a background (won't go into it, look it up, it,.... like Hunter, is all over the internet) that warrants a bit of looking into. Don't be glib, don't act like it is not impt. Check out her thinking on how to deal with pedophiles,,,she talks about their use of computers and such, as i ...[text shortened]... . We are different. Look up diff in Conservatives and Liberals. Maybe we should do a thread on it.
I did launch a Liberal vs Conservative thread,
not that long ago. I even included definitions from Merriam-Webster.
I was surprised by the amount of negative feedback it generated.
Someone even said something along the lines of,
''Well I may be a traditionalist, but at least I'm not one
of your AOC Socialists..........
And, of course, people agree or disagree with the post's
stated opinion simply by the person's name attached to it.
You, yourself, posted a blank thread last week and, I noticed,
although completely devoid of verbiage it managed two thumbs down.
@no1marauder saidyep, a transgender "woman" is a 'MAN" not a boy, you are right.
A transgender woman isn't a "boy".
Your spewing of ignorance on this matter continues your unfortunate descent into full right wing bigotry.
The NCAA has requirements that transgender women who wish to compete "get treatment to lower their testosterone levels before they can compete in women's sports." This is a reasonable requirement to ensure that such competition ...[text shortened]... challenge to such laws would be easy to decide; I'd strike them down as lacking any rational basis.
- - And sh76 is both caring and spot on.
Your requirements to "prove" one "cares" is ignorance. Nought to do with your perverted view of your distortion of words ( eg bigotry ). How easy it is to throw such terms around, That is ignorance, that is where the hate lives, name calling because you " care ". you just call it caring. It is hate plain and simple.
So easy in your ignorance to take the moral high ground.
I see a far moral person and a less bigoted person in sh76 than many others here.

A transgender woman is a woman.
Therefore, she should be able to compete in woman's events.
There has been some concern that some transgender women have an unfair advantage because they have higher levels of testosterone than cisgender women. The NCAA has addressed this:
" Transgender student-athletes will need to document sport-specific testosterone levels beginning four weeks before their sport's championship selections. Starting with the 2022-23 academic year, transgender student-athletes will need documented levels at the beginning of their season and a second documentation six months after the first. They will also need documented testosterone levels four weeks before championship selections."

This is a rational response; laws banning a certain minority are not.
@no1marauder saidTestosterone is only one aspect. Lia Thomas is also 6'1. The average height for women is 5'4. A quick glance at photos show Lia Towers over her female competitors. Height is an important advantage for swimmers:

I'm fairly sure a day will come when trans women can be more closely matched to cisgender women, but that day doesn't seem to be here yet.
Is it just a coincidence Thomas beat not one, but two female Olympic medalists? Unlikely given that Thomas competed in the men's swim team for Pennsylvania University, a mere three years before transitioning.
The best way for competition with transwoman to be fair would probably be if those athletes started transitioning before the onset of puberty; but letting children that young decide on such a life-altering event is currently a controversial issue.
