Why are we paying people to collect unemployment when there is work to do? Can't people plant trees before they get an unemployment check?
Meanwhile there are people that want to work and are trying to get a job and cannot get hired. They would plant trees to earn a paycheck.

Why are we so hell bent on working. Especially crappy, repetitive jobs which can better be done by robotics?
Surely with the advancements we’ve made in the last 50 years we should be working 15 hour weeks, indeed planting trees, making sure the world is fed, getting fresh drinking water to people who need it and spending loads of time being creative?
We destroy more food per year than we eat whilst people starve.
People are working 30 to 50 hours a week. WTF?
If the conclusion isn’t we’re doomed as a bloody species, I don’t know what is.

What if all people were paid not to work? It is a no brainer. Paying people not to work is counter productive. There is a better way. Pay people to do community service if nothing else.
The reason people can pay cash at near minimum wage when all other jobs pay more is because people are collecting unemployment while working for cash. That is unacceptable. It burdens people who are working for a living while rewarding the scammers.

I never said work camps.
People are not qualified to plant trees? I never suggested skilled work. I didn't even suggest other work options would not be available. They could paint over graffiti or cook food for the homeless. Some women might prefer to provide day care for women that do work a full time job.
All I am suggesting is that people do at least some work to earn an unemployment check. I am not even suggesting it has to be many hours.
