You seem to have high respect for the WORD OF GOD. Fine, let's read it.

Matthew 7:14 - Because straight is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

Few find it! So much for the claim that 'billions and billions' are saved.
Therefore sprang there even of one, and him as good as dead, so many as the stars of the sky in multitude, and as the sand which is by the seashore innumerable. These all died in faith, not having recieved the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessedthat they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. Thank you all for pointing out yet another contradiction in the bible. That's what's great about the book, really. There's a verse for everyone. If I quote a verse that sounds like something you don't like, it's easy to just go find a more optimistic-sounding verse. Just ignore the parts you don't like and you'll do fine as a christian.

That is what is so great about THE WORD OF GOD, we are allowed to either accept it, or reject it. GOD gives us that choice. No one is forced to believe it. Noone is forced to reject it.

You know what just absolutely drives me up a wall? How does anyone know what is the "word of god"?

Having invented ten tons of silly crap myself, in the form of written word, I abhore the notion that people can be conned so easily.

What if god really is insane? An escaped prisoner from a penal colony of beings who have technology to make them appear as Gods? Which at our current "stupid chimp state of butt-scratching and lice-picking for fun and profit" isn't much technology at all. What if god is a nut? Just as all the evidence implies that he is? What then? Are you still proud to accept him without reasoning it out? I'll bet you will be. Blind. And stupid.

You doubt that he is a nut? Who refuses to engage in conversation with those he created? Why? What sort of perv would do that? Just wondering.

If you review the sources upon which the editions of
the New Testament rely, you will find that there is a
lot of disagreement.

The agreement in the verses of various books of the New Testament is defended by the evidence that the seven major editions from Tischendorf's to the 25th of Nestle-Aland agree in the wording of 62.9% of the verses of the New Testament. The proportion ranges from 45.1% in Mark to 81.4% in 2 Timothy.

and

As far as the claim that the Bible being the word of God and its inerrancy is concerned, the less we talk about it, the better. This is because we do not have the 'original' text but myriad of imperfect, often divergent manuscripts from where the 'original' text has to extracted by a committee of humans! Even worse, the 'best' reading is decided by voting!!

You make a fatal mistake, kimosabe....

Why should I care about a load of crap written by a whole wagon full of master crap writers? I am one. It loses it's charm, when seen from that angle.

Nope. I'm stubborn. If there is a god, I want it to lower itself to the level of it's creations and reason with me. I do pay attention. Should god ever speak to me, i'll know.

I've made no mistake, SVW. I am not trying to compel
you to read them; if you took the time to look at what
I wrote, I, in fact, agreed with you. The notion of
'The Word of God' is a flawed one; a glance at the
source history for the New Testament writings shows
that unquestionably.

However, if you are claiming that the parable of the
Good Samariten is 'crap,' then you are, in fact, too
stubborn to ever hear the Word of God if He and it
exist. If you aren't moved by this and many other
writings in the Bible then neither will you be moved
by anything else. You are, in fact, not paying attention.

I chose to believe that, THE BIBLE is the only WORD OF GOD. I choose to accept JESUS CHRIST as my SAVIOR. I chose to have absolute faith in THE WORD OF GOD,without question. I have done my personal search of THE BIBLE. I have seen some of things that others disagreed with. But I saw something within myself, sin. I also saw something else, The fogiveness of THE CREATOR, GOD

You choose to believe that your translation accurately
represents what God intended. The source history
defies any claim that such a choice is rational.

You can believe whatever you want, but looking at
early papyri and comparing it with the translations
used, there are variations. This is not a glowing
recommendation for inerrancy.

Sigh.

The only word of god. Now if only there was a god. Sigh.

Did you ever think of what it means if god is a big old fake? A silly con game?

Then the word of god is what?

Let me ask a question.

Why is god hiding?

What does it gain us? Or what does it gain him?

Why this con game for money run by people who know a sucker when they see one?

I personally chose to believe that THE BIBLE is the complete WORD OF GOD. Within that WORD, I found myself, a sinner, who lived outside of GODS intructions. Within THE WORD I found the love of a loving GOD, who forgave me of all my sins, whether they were large or small. Within THE WORD is understanding, on why this world, is the way that it is. Within THE WORD, I found that man doesn't have all of the answers. He just thinks he does.

If you have ever read THE BIBLE, how did you read it? As a novel? A book of curiosity? Or a book seeking understanding? Or for whatever reason?
