To be honest I could come up with a lot of negatives but 1 positive would be that they seem to have a "can do" culture. They are more likely to think something new or difficult is possible than the English for example.
There is a lot of room for improvement in this world and I think Americans can see that and are willing to made new technology happen to get there. I would be interested to see a comparison of start up technology companies in the U.S. compared to other countries.
I'm not saying other countries aren't aware and concerned about society and environmental issues, just maybe not as motivated to implement something new to address these problems.

There has been lot of negativity lately to the US and what they are doing about it, clearly...

There is a lot of research going on in the U.S. to develop fuel cells and advanced solar cells, and many other alternatives to fossil fuel. I have no doubt there will be new technology out soon that will rival fossil fuels. This may not come from the U.S. either, I'm just saying people here look for new ideas and alternatives.

Americans are Americans, no matter where your ancestors came from.
By the same token, we are all inhabitants of this earth and will some day learn to play and work together to preserve it.

"Scientists condemn US as emissions of greenhouse gases hit record level
By Steve Connor, Science Editor

The United States emitted more greenhouse gases in 2004 than at any time in history, confirming its status as the world's biggest polluter. Latest figures on the US contribution to global warming show that its carbon emissions have risen sharply despite international concerns over climate change. ..."

I think you have confused the American government with the American people.

I mean its all about decreasing the emissions we produce, nothing else, it isn't working for you.
If not that then I would think corporations are doing this, well, corporations transcend national borders, they usually have roots in many countries, they are not wholly just American now are they?

All the previous judgements are correct: Americans are all fat and lazy and we sit around with our thumbs up our arses laughing at the rest of the world and all their problems while we order another Martini and plot another invasion, preferably a 3rd world country who is defenseless and has lots of natural resources.
There you have it. Problem solved. Goodby!

America isn't doing much about Global Warning.
You said:
"I'm not saying other countries aren't aware and concerned about society and environmental issues, just maybe not as motivated to implement something new to address these problems."
Global Warming is an environmental issue, you implied that America as a country (i.e. other countries are aware...) is more motivated to solve this problem.
You are wrong.
That is all I'm getting at.

but it doesn't change the facts that your country keeps invading 3rd world countries almost annually for 'national interests', veto all the wrong UN resolutions for all the wrong reasons, blatantly disregard environmental efforts, all of which is biting back at you as the title of the most hated nation in the world.
