This weekend the UK and the wider Commonwealth celebrates Her Majesty’s 70th year as Monarch.

Here we have an extra days of National holiday plus the moving of the late May Bank Holiday to make a 4 day long weekend of international, national and local celebrations including street parties, fetes and various pageantry.

The other half and myself have booked accommodation at one of our favourite quaint coastal English towns to celebrate with friends and the local townsfolk.

Is anyone else here celebrating this historic event?

The queen is still well liked here in Canada.

I am not sure if they have anything going on as I haven't been out and about much since the Pandemic.

Enjoy your street parties and most of all relax.

No, not me. Not where I am, nor in my head or heart. I am an ambivalent republican but also an admirer of the Queen. My irrelevant admiration will have to suffice because there will be no celebration.

No celebrations here that I know of, but the Queen is in my heart.

I’ll FaceTime you into the joy and fun to see if I can overcome your ambivalence with some good old friendly nationalistic nostalgia, bunting and crumpets.

You sound like you have a very cold heart or at least come across that way to me.

Aw com’on Mr Badger, I’m sure you’ll be pissed as a newt by mid morning and on your bar stool singing the national anthem with gusto!

I will be in France and miss out on this. But maybe here will be some British on the Camping ground, that could be fun.

not me, but congrats to her majesty for longevity
i saw a news report that her image was projected upon multiple stonehenge pillars
personally, i find that sad for both

but then, america has dealt with and will continue to deal with elite morons who want their faces on monuments
(trump wanted so bad to be included on mount rushmore)

i hope her day is special

as a devout member of Momentum the only song sung in this house is The Red Flag .any fecking monarch that can condone the millions spent on this royal piss up whilst children in the uk go hungry is little more than a vampire.

No. Though I think highly of the Brit's, this whole "royal family" thing seems to be a lot of fuss over nothing. I'll be doing to some exercise, then it's off to the bookstore.
