@great-big-stees saidAmerica likes both of them, even if the UK is pissed about them leaving.
The “new” Edward seems, from where I am seated, to to shun any real publicity but then I guess being so far down on the Totem Pole, he really is an afterthought.🤔
Envy is not a good look.
@shallow-blue saidThat's real funny, since I do and I am.
You don't live in the USA or Russia, so you're free to switch channels and watch the footie.
@moonbus saidThanks for the correction - it was before Elizabeth, yes, I mixed up facts. Sorry. But I believe Charles was already in love with Camila when he married Diana, so that marriage could have been avoided.
I believe Edward did not want to be king, with or without Wallis Simpson. Simpson was married when she met Edward, but Edward was not. The 'corporation' would not have let him marry an American divorcee; that was out of bounds. Hence, his decision to abdicate and retire to another country. It was not Elizabeth's decision; she wasn't queen then.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wi ...[text shortened]... ved. To have split up both marriages so Charles could marry Camilla would have been beyond the pale.
@shallow-blue saidOf course. This is the 21st century, I have ESPN.
You can find a footie game on USA telly?

@torunn saidThat whole episode really frosts me because I think it's horrendous they took this happy girl, Diana Spencer, treated her like a brood mare to get heirs and then discarded her.

Shameful. Not every Princess story ends like Cinderella.

@soothfast saidShe even looks pretty, still a beautiful face.
Whatever embalming fluid and animatronic tech the queen is using is fantastic. She looks very nearly alive!

@divegeester saidWe all saw it happen. The Spencers aren't exactly fans of the Royal family, I'd reckon.
What utter fantasy.
@suzianne saidNo you didn’t “see it happen”.

What you are referring to is one side of a public acrimonious marital break up making public inferences in the most tawdry way imaginable, at a funeral. None of which was reciprocated.
Diana Spencer was obviously in an unhappy marriage, lots of people are. Her husband was unfaithful to her and she to was unfaithful to him. It happens all the time the world over.
Next you’ll be trotting out the theories of Charles having her murdered!
@suzianne saidShe married into the Royal family in free will and encouraged by her own family.

After the break up she lived a privileged life with zero responsibility, holidaying with the mega rich and partying with the famous on yachts, in mansions.
She built up a media fuelled persona of herself as the damaged Princess walking thorough fields of land mines and impersonating Mother Teresa as she embarked on a funded life mission to help the sick and needy.
She lived a luxurious responsibility free life most people can only dream of.
@divegeester saidI partly agree with you. She was privileged and moved in privileged circles. The thing I feel very uncertain of is - did she really know what she was doing marrying prince Charles, before it was too late? He was already in love with another woman who was also in love with him - a bad start for a marriage of that dignity. Sure it has happened before in the royal history but the individual pain and embarrassment is still the same.
