Anyone familiar with the old Avalon Hill game, Diplomacy? Medieval Diplomacy is an online game that is very similar to that game in many respects, but is much more detailed. Each player takes the part of one of 24 medieval kingdoms. It's a turn based game, with a new turn being played once per week. Each player executes all their orders for that turn and uploads the results to the host server, where all 24 sets of orders are resolved simultaneously. You then see the results of all combat and if all your "allies" did what they promised they'd do.
The game is fairly detailed. The rules might seem overwhelming at first, but once you've gotten the basics down it isn't so bad. Baically, you collect taxes, build armies, negotiate with other players, build alliances, break alliances, conquer and pillage, etc. Plus at only one turn per week, it shouldn't put that much of a burden on anyone's time. The downside is that at one turn per week, a game could last six months, or more. Assuming you don't get eliminated right away, that is.
Anyway, I've played this once before where I was King of France. I survived to the end (although I did not win) and generally had a good time conquering and pillaging throughout Europe and North Africa. I would be interested in playing again, but thought if we could get 24 people interested, we could have our own dedicated RHP game.
Oh, of course the most important part is that it's FREE. You can choose to make a small weekly payment to gain more gaming priveleges, but you can play for FREE if you want to. So if anyone has any interest, check out the website below and let me know. I look forward to seeing your dirty peasants trampled beneath my charging knights.

Originally posted by darvlayOnly one turn per week. It only takes maybe an hour or so to issue your orders for the week. The time consuming part is the negotiations you undertake with other players, which is done via email. This can consume a good amount of time, depending upon how Machiavellian you are. You could always be like Albania and not talk to anyone if you want.
I love these kinds of games but would it be very time-consuming? It is the busy holiday season, after all...
Of course the first few turns will be the easiest. There isn't that much to do at that point. So even if we started next week, we'd only get in two turns before the holidays were over.

Alright, that's five so far:
Rwingett
Starrman
Darvlay
Eagles54
XanthosNZ
We need 19 more.
Edit: Oops, there are only 23 realms. So we only need 18 more.
Originally posted by no1marauderI always used to get backstabbed by the same guy when we played Diplomacy. Every time he'd convince me that this time it was different and we would share a joint victory. 😞 If it was so desired it may be possible to hide the RHP identities of each country.
