Simon Knott castled kingside, played Kh2, and then changed his mind and started marching his king over to the other side of the board!

When I did a similar maneuver against Weyerstrass he mated me as the king arrived, exhausted, on the queenside.

Edit: Game 3690130. Actually he didn't mate me, he just opened up the queenside before I could blink and made my king look foolishly exposed.

I wonder if mark hebden has looked into the games here? He is quite an attacking player, when the mood takes him.

I think Jones had it well in had for most of the game. 26. ... Ne4 was a nice move with an unstoppable mate on g2 if White tried to get up to any nonsense on g7.

David Eggleston looks like he is going to lose a piece quite soon - that pinned rook is a bit of a weak spot.

I have seen him wriggle out of these positions time and time again - I would expect at least a draw from the position he is in.

I see that Lee Davis is also playing in the 5 day Open AM week 1 with a grade of 163A.

What's that all about then?

😕

Looks like Dave Tebb drew his first game in the Major Open and now plays a 16 year old, Daniel Rocks 1960, in the second round.

I know Danny Rocks - he's quite a handful OTB.

(I think he's an RHP member)
