What's that all about then?

😕
He must be playing in this in the morning and the championship in the afternoon - phew!

But what's with the grade?

Tebby in round 1 played a very strong young junior and it looks like he has another in round 2 🙁....
Tebby will be fine get the young guns out of the way then all the results will follow.

It would be nice if Dave could post PGNs of his games here. I know he's a little busy, but he has been making some moves on RHP today.

163 is his grade. Down from 165 last year. Obviously the near flawless chess he plays on this site isn't reflected in his OTB ability.

Thing with corry chess is you can use databases and books and so on unlike OTB chess you play what you learn and obviously he aint learning much because here hes like a GM.

It's the "and so on" which separates the men from the boys on this site.

My first round game wasn't very interesting. I managed to get a winning position by move 30, but messed it up just before the time control on move 40.

It wanted the number "0" instead of letter "O" for castling.

Lee Davis 2071 vs Stephen Barrett 2251.
2nd round match.
After a *ahem* slow start, my pre-tourni favourite has a chance to redeem himself.

29 Davis, Lee.............. 2071 (0) 0 - 1 Barrett, Stephen J...... 2251 (0) 59 33

Come on Lee, buck your ideas up - the honour of Red Hot Pawn is at stake!

What with David Tebb drawing with little kids in the Major Open, we're in danger of becoming the laughing stock of the online chess community.

Stephen Barrett is a pretty strong 2200 - if I remember rightly he got an IM norm last year and beat some good players.

Just looked at the games - Steve Gordon looks in a bit of trouble - he might lose this game, or draw at best.

My team mate, Russell James, is holding his own against Stewart Haslinger too - he might be able to pull through and get a win.
