perhaps someone should make a 20-35 catergory to run alongside topics like this, that way we may see some nice short games, somewhat void of 'glaring' blunders.
i started this thread to see what mistakes can be made in the opening and try to get some idea of how NOT to play. so i want to see those blunders...
...especially the ones where a good player (say 1500 and above - which is good compared to me 😞 ) loses out to due to unconventional play from their opponent.
i dont think anyone should be throwing insults around... without mistakes from my opponents i would never win a game 😳

I just find that relishing a game where your opp has mate in 1 and simply stops paying attention is the worst kind of chess.

Game 2302487
MCA you should take particular note of this game you wouldn't want to fall for this elegant trap.
Originally posted by aginisYou'd have to be a person who would fall for being checkmated in four moves not the sense the sarcasm in your post. I know it isn't anything impressive, but the thread asked for checkmates in under 20 moves, so I posted one. The thread didn't say it had to be anything fancy or complex, so why the sarcasm? This game met the requirements.

Originally posted by Ithorian Guyi'm annoyed by the thread in general. If it was the "opening traps" thread i would be for it. I just don't think that showing off other people's gross errors is a worthwhile endevor. I don't see how you or anyone else benefited from the post. I also think that glorifying this kind of haphazard chess is bad for chess and bad for the players, it is the antithesis of how i see chess. Chess should be about careful analysis and accurate play. My sarcasm was not directed at you per se but i would be interested in knowing what drove you to post this game?

are they any cool games in here??
Originally posted by Shinidokiactually the third game on page 1 is ok, blunders by black but nice tactical plays by white to take advantage. I got bored too quickly to get very far past page 1.

Game 2059244
What can I say...
I've been flamed in here for using this opening, but won on my first attempt, then got crushed on the second one, then found myself a real job...

there are number of good games in here that dont include such obvioulsy stupid mistakes but i couldnt say which ones and cant be bothered to look back through them all.
this thread is not simply to glorify the games but (as mentioned before) for me to see what NOT to do during the opening.
anyone with any real chess ability knows that most of these games include BAD moves and stupid blunders and would not be recommended to anyone who is trying to improve thier chess (other than an example of what NOT to do).

From March "Nice example of a combination to checkmate in a quick game I (white) played tonight against a buddy OTB. I was initially going for the queen, until I spotted the mate. He beat me in a similar number of moves in our other game.

From May: "Game 1848346
My opponent missed the check with gain of tempo on move 12 (apart from other mistakes).

The first game is a good one on keeping up pressure. Opening lines or keeping them closed as you need.
The on posted in pgn format is a very nice mating net if I may say so myself, without my opponent making an obvious blunder.
