cludi says that 2 people in the 2007 championship final have statistics which match engine use more than his own..,,will you be treating them as badly as Cludi?
Perhaps one of the first tasks of the new game mods will be to investigate those players. Actually I would hope that they check out all the finalists of the 2007 Championship. I also suggest that they investigate everyone above a certain rating threshold. Starting from the top and working downwards.

This is sad news. I read Cludi's blogs and enjoy his games. This does resemble a witch hunt. I have played and looked at alot of suspicious players and do not believe Cludi is one.
On second thought I have not increased my rating by 1000 points in 6 months so what do I know.
The people who throw the accussations around with no proof remind me of the Salem witch hunts.
It makes me not want to play here myself.

Today is a sad sad day.
Let me first state that I can surely understand that David Tebb is frustrated - because surely alot of the "players" in top 50 are using "help".
Sadly I think he is chasing a ghost. If David (and English Tal) were 100% sure that Cludi was a cheater then there was no reason what so ever to make (hidden) accusations in the forum to start a public hetz.
They could simply just sit back and wait for the "court" to ban Cludi for engine use. That would have been the appropriate thing to do!!!
Now Cludi has been found guilty before the court has even ruled. We can already see it - for example |Tony| who made a demonstration by resigning before the games against Cludi was even started.
If Cludi is found innocent it does'nt really matter anymore - many players will still see him as a cheater.
What is really sad is that a witch hunt started by two of the strongest players on this site has made another great player leave. If Cludi is found innocent I hope they will have a hard time looking in the mirror every morning !!!
Originally posted by Richardt HansenIf he is found innocent I think that we shall then see a great deal of whining about the whole game mod/cheat detection system being obviously flawed. I also suspect there will be no real resolution of this case.

As I stated in another thread:
For years here, we who are concerned about engine cheating have had to listen to the shrieks and moans about "witch hunts". Your "arguments" are nothing new.
There were, of course, no witches (at least ones who could do any damage). There are, of course, engine cheaters here at RHP and they damage the site every day.
Although many threads and posts have accused players of cheating recently, I have been more concerned about the fact that investigation took so long. I know the site was being upgraded, but total silence from admin has done nothing to halt suspicion or reassure members that it was being dealt with.
None of us want to play a game against a cheat, whether it's an annual site tournament or an unrated blitz game. The engine user is not only wasting their opponents time, they are disrespecting them too.
On the matter of Cludi's decision to leave, and his post on his (well advertised on RHP!) internet blag, I think it's wrong of him to quote messages that were sent to him and were not meant to be public. His words are not moderated as this site is, so he can say what he pleases and it will not be removed. His accusations will stay for all to read.
He once accused somebody of being unsportsmanlike - but they had played within the rules. 🙂
Originally posted by Richardt HansenAll indications were that it was being swept under the carpet. The game mods had been disbanded before a decision about Cludi had been reached and he was being allowed to continue to play in leagues etc. There was nothing whatsoever to indicate that anything was being done about Cludi, either to prove his innocence or guilt.

A message from Russ / Chris saying "Please be patient, we're on the case" would have helped enormously. Not disbanded the game mods would have been perfectly reasonable as well, if Cludi was found innocent then no-one outside the game mods would have even known there was an accusation and if he was found guilty then there would have been a day or two of shock on the forums and then it would have all been over. He would have been replaced as a game mod and everything would have continued as before.
However, to an outside observer it seemed that this issue was being ignored and that the game mods had been disbanded so that Cludi would not be kicked off the site. The cheating accusations were made publicly on the forums and in PMs because there was no process in place to make them privately.
