@ghost-of-a-duke saidAre you sure the number’s that high? I thought only a trillion stars were thought to exist.
An estimated 2 trillion galaxies exist.
You think Earth is the only planet containing life?
And until proven otherwise, I think earth is the only place where intelligent life exists.
It’s interesting to me that atheists will believe multiple universes, extra dimensions and extraterrestrials exist - despite a lack of evidence for all of them - but deny God exists, saying there’s no evidence (when in fact evidence does exist.)
That tells me something else is at work in an atheist’s disbelief in God.
@pb1022 saidAccording to Brian Cox. He's rather convincing. (Watch the 'Universe' series currently showing on the BBC.)

@ghost-of-a-duke saidSome of these Christians still believe that the earth is flat, 6000 yrs old and created in 6, 24hr consecutive periods. What nonsense you telling these people about life out there and how big the universe is. Many dont even realise that the only stars they see at night are in our Milky Way Galaxy, which is like the size of a quarter, and the universe is like the whole of the USA. Small minds cannot comprehend all that.

@pb1022 saidThe idea that Earth is the only planet in such an immense universe that contains life (intelligent or otherwise) doesn't make mathematical sense. It also doesn't seem logical in a Christian sense. Why would God create such a mind-bogglingly massive universe and only put life on one planet?

@ghost-of-a-duke saidAnd what kind of lazy God they believe in too. Made one planet with life in 6 days, rested on the 7th and did nothing after that. I would bet there are billions of planets with life all over the universe.

@ghost-of-a-duke saidThe theory of evolution also doesn’t make mathematical sense - that random mutations and natural selection could lead to the complexity of life we see today.

And God is a creative God and an incomprehensibly immense God. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if He created the universe only for human beings on earth to discover and explore.

He interacted with and guided His creation. It’s throughout the Holy Bible - both Old and New Testaments.
@pb1022 saidOh dear.

@pb1022 saidDon't forget He also sent bears to rip youths to pieces. (For mocking the bald head of one of his prophets.)

@ghost-of-a-duke saidWhy oh dear?
Oh dear.
There are plenty of scientists and other learned people who think the theory of evolution is mathematically impossible - especially at the genetic level, given how complex cells and DNA are.
@ghost-of-a-duke saidI haven’t gotten around to re-reading that, but I will.

@pb1022 saidIt makes perfect sense to an awful lot of people who have a far better handle on mathematics than you.

@avalanchethecat saidMaybe you should look into it for yourself instead of relying on other people to do your thinking for you 😉

@pb1022 saidMaybe you should look into it YOURself rather than regurgitating nonsense you've picked up from creationist websites.

Still waiting for you to come up with some evidence for the resurrection which doesn't come from scripture.
@pb1022 saidSonship will tell you they were actually unruly yobs challenging his chosen prophet. (Which totally justifies sending the bears to rip them to pieces.)
I haven’t gotten around to re-reading that, but I will.
The elephant in the thread of course is why are you only reading the pleasant parts of the Bible?
