What's wrong with it? It aligns with the one you used (and misunderstood).

I think the first step is for you to understand that what you experienced in the cult was not simply indoctrination, but brain washing. (There 'is' a difference). The next step is to understand that 'brain washing' is a form of psychological abuse.

"Brainwashing is defined in the Psychology Dictionary as that which “manipulates and modifies a person’s emotions, attitudes, and beliefs.” It reduces a person’s ability to mentally defend themselves and makes it easier for another person to control them."

If you were forced to obey rules that you know to be stupid then that is psychological abuse on the part of the adults. Its interesting that you did this way into your twenties/thirties. I would say that that says something about your personality. I dont want to use the word weak but I cannot think of another. I have been through that myself. Growing up in a cult of some kind was every prevalent some decades ago. I could remember in my late teens, I started rebelling and I was the one to excommunicate my parents 😀. .. rather than the other way around. Basically I told them that all that mumbo-jumbo doctrine, none of what Jesus preached is grabage and Im outta here. Part of reason why people allow parents to abuse them like that is lack of choice. Education or skills and a job fixes that problem. Maybe you were not so inclined and relied on them too much.

I believe the everpresent threats of excommunication, shunning and disowning of kids in order to implement a regime of deliberate deprivation amounts to psychological abuse based upon the defintion you have.

It still feels like jews are being disrespected here. Of the abrahamic religions, they were the only ones actually chosen.

Again, you are clearly not following the thread Kelly.

FetchMyJunk described his experiences in a cult that included brainwashing and yet rejects the term psychological abuse being applied to these experiences.

Why are you talking about forgiveness and faults? How is that relevant to the discussion at hand?
Judging by the gormless repetition, I think you are supposed to just take the pompous reprimand on the chin and keep schtum.

If you seriously think that KellyJay's snooty little comments on page 25 and 29 were only directed at Ghost of a Duke, then that is your prerogative.

KellyJay apologized to Ghost, when out of nowhere, FMF butted in to 'share' the apology, which absolutely was not directed anywhere near him.

Why wouldn't it have been directed at me too? Have you read the thread?
