Not at all.

You've stated on the forum that a Christian is someone who follows the teachings of Christ. I'm just trying to ascertain if you accept that shunning is not something Jesus taught. The passages I referenced are evidence for this.

A Christian is someone who follows the teachings of the Christ but not to the exclusion of all other Biblical books. Therefore each must be put in context of the other and a harmonious evaluation made. Are you clear that Paul advocates shunning unrepentant wrongdoers?

(Matthew 18:15-17) “Moreover, if your brother commits a sin, go lay bare his fault between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained your brother. But if he does not listen, take along with you one or two more, in order that at the mouth of two or three witnesses every matter may be established. If he does not listen to them, speak to the congregation. If he does not listen even to the congregation, let him be to you just as a man of the nations and as a tax collector.

what is Jesus saying here? that the best course of action is to try to make reparation, if reparation cannot be achieved you speak to the congregation and they will try to sort that matter out, if it cannot be resolved then what can you do? This concerns differences of opinions between two Christians, or disputes between individuals and seems quite different to the gross sins that Paul mentions.

I just wanted to know what his sin was and you still did not answer that question. Perhaps I was not clear. What was his original sin within the JW organization?

Sorry, but many (perhaps even a preponderance) of those who willfully leave your organization have nothing in the relevant sense here for which to be repentant. They are not "wrongdoers". They are those who have waxed smart enough to see your organization for the deplorable cult that it is.

Again, this is related to your overactive persecution complex: in your eyes, all the Brenda Lees of the world are evil unrepentant wrongdoers. 🙄 Go get a frickin' clue, would ya?

sorry you seem to be talking a lot but not really saying anything, this is a biblical and a civil discussion, if you cannot act in a manner which preserves the dignity of the conversation then may I suggest that you refrain from ranting and take up something that may prevent you from forming an ulcer or some other symptom of uncontrolled anger.

The Bible has some excellent advice which could help you,

(Ecclesiastes 7:9) Do not hurry yourself in your spirit to become offended, for the taking of offense is what rests in the bosom of the stupid ones.

(Proverbs 16:32) He that is slow to anger is better than a mighty man, and he that is controlling his spirit than the one capturing a city.

(Proverbs 29:11) .All his spirit is what a stupid one lets out, but he that is wise keeps it calm to the last.

(James 1:19) Know this, my beloved brothers. Every man must be swift about hearing, slow about speaking, slow about wrath

see how good and healthy the application of its principles are?

So his sin was criticism of, or opposition to some or all of the man-made doctrines of the JW Organization, right?

No his sin was apostasy, would you like a Biblical precedent for I dont hold out much hope in you finding it yourself,

(Titus 3:10, 11) As for a man that promotes a sect, reject him after a first and a second admonition knowing that such a man has been turned out of the way and is sinning, he being self-condemned.

I don't believe he does.

Let's take 2 Thessalonians you cited. This time the full verse.

2 Thessalonians 3:6, 14-15 Now we are giving YOU orders, brothers, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, to withdraw from every brother walking disorderly and not according to the tradition YOU received from us . 14 But if anyone is not obedient to our word through this letter, keep this one marked, stop associating with him, that he may become ashamed. 15 And yet do not be considering him as an enemy, but continue admonishing him as a brother.

The instruction here is stop associating yet keep admonishing him as a brother. The instruction is not to sever all contact.

I'll get to the other later as i'm off out.

This is not about a 'difference of opinions'. Re-read the first line.

Sorry, but you live in a fantasy world viewed through goggles of persecution-complex-induced caricatures. Right: all those who leave your cult are evil unrepentant wrongdoers; and I'm just an ulcer-forming ranter whose uncontrolled anger is getting the better of him. I really pity you. One can only hope that someday you form the smarts and courage of a Brenda Lee.

thanks but i have no issues. I love being a witness, i love my brothers and sisters, my elders, my friends, my congregation. I love helping people apply Biblical principles, its awesome. You should not pity me, you should be happy for me, I have a beautiful and loving wife, a beautiful family and no issues. I was not always a witness and choose through my own volition to become one in my twenties, best decision I ever made.
