In the opening chapter of revelation who does John see in his vision? God uses the terms I'm the alpha & omega & this person in the vision uses the same language to describe himself? There is a problem here then? Almighty God calls himself the beginning and the end and so does Christ.

I tend to think that this is the Son of Man speaking, who says He comes with the clouds. What do you think ? Look at the passage here.
"Behold, He comes with the clouds, and every eye will see Him, even those who piered Him; and all the tribes of the land will mourn over Him. Yes, amen. (v.7)
I am the Alpha and the Omega, says the Lord God, He who is and who was and who is coming, the Almighty." (v.8)
According to the flow of the two sentences, doesn't it seem seamlessly connected, that the one coming on the clouds is the Almighty ?
The protestors simply do not realize what it means to God to be united with man. How important this is to God totally escapes them.
Verse 7 about the coming of the Son of Man on the clouds is confirmed by Matthew 24:30 and Zechariah 12:10-12.
Verse 8 has its corresponding utterance in Revelation 21:6 and 22:13.
Christ is the universal mingling of divinity and humanity, God and man in total incorporation, blended, united.
The religionists do not realize how important this is to the eternal purpose of God. As the mingling of God and man Christ is the centrality of the new creation and its Beginning:
"These things says the Amen, the faithful and true Witness, the beginning of the creation of God." (Revelation 3:14)
This beginning of the creation of God is the beginning of the NEW creation. The creation that starts with the resurrection of Christ from the dead:
"And He is the Head of the Body, the church; HE IS THE BEGINNING, the FIRSTBORN FROM THE DEAD ..." (Colossians 1:18)
In incarnation, Christ brought God into man and was the Firstborn of all creation for the created human nature now contained the eternal God. In resurrection He uplifted humanity and brought man into God to initiate the new creation. Man was deified. And He became the beginning, the Firstborn from the dead".
In both the old creation and the new creation then, Christ has "the first place in all things."
Christ made a U turn. First He brought God into man. Then in resurrection He brought man into God.
So much needs to be written concerning this economy of God:

As to one's eternal redemption? No.
As to the gift of eternal life. No.
Your eternal redemption is as secure as the existence of Christ Himself. You will be in the New Jerusalem in etenity.
You cannot avoid that. You may only postpone it for a little while and prolong your entrance. But once having been born of God you cannot be unborn and your destiny is sealed.

You're a Bible student. Would I insult your intellegence by asking you to explain your theology in 25 words or less ?
There is Justification.
There is Redemption.
There is Reconciliation.
There is Regeneration.
There is Sanctification.
There is Conformation.
There is Building
There is Transformation.
There is Glorification.
There is Overcoming.
Romans has 16 chapters. He did not just write one or two little sentences.
As I have written on this Forum before:
In the Gospel you get to be forgiven of every sin you ever committed and receive the gift of eternal life. You do not get to remain the same kind of person forever, as when you sinned.
Originally posted by jaywillSo even though you still sin everyday you have been given the gift of salvation now as a human and your sealed now? Just a yes or no will do.

Who knows? Maybe he thinks that saved means having children - "She shall be saved through child bearing" wrote Paul.
"Saved" is used in different senses in the Bible. Sorry.

We have something much better than that.
The saved are becomming God in life and nature but not in His Godhead.

Why do you think the New Jerusalem is called the Bride of Christ ?
It is because she finally matches what He is.

Galveston, think about it for a minute. In chapter 14 of Revelation you have the Firstfruits and then the Harvest.
This is a matter of timing . Some crops ripen early. They are Firstfruits. Some ripen latter, the majority. They are the Harvest.
The Harvest and the Firstfruits of any farm eventually are the same.

Not true.
In eternity future, in the age of the new heaven and the new earth there is the New Jerusalem consisting of millions or billions. And around the city of New Jerusalem there are the nations.
When the Bible says that the sons of God will reign forever and ever, it should not mean that they reign over each other. So there has to be some people on the new earth for them to reign over. These are the nations around the New Jerusalem.
There will be more than 144,000 sons of God in the New Jerusalem.
I'll be there for certain. I am already well on my way.
