I will answer any question you put to me once you have answered the original question in hand.

The dichotomy you attempt to establish is put in the form of a tricky binary question. It is not a yes or no answer.

There are things meant literally in Revelation which are communicated in signs. That's what the very FIRST verse in the book TELLS US.

I am not interested in perpetual one-upsman-ship or anything other than getting to the best interpretation of the Bible.

You are not being evaded.
Is Revelation literal or not?

Revelation reveals literal matters which are made known by signs.

And I'll tell you Divegeester, the way you react with mocking glee at this argument, referring with contempt to "brave Christians" rather than your brothers and sisters in Christ, does make me wonder about you.

Kellyjay,

I am probably 75% familar with all the posts in this thread. I have missed some.

Did you tell Divegeester or anyone that this passage means to you a literal Godzilla like beast will arise out of the sea in the future - QUITE LITERALLY ?

I don't trust Divegeester to take his word for it above. Did you convey that thought, please ?

Revelation 13: 1-2

And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.

And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.

If you can answer this then I might go on to analyze what is really going on in this debate as far as I can see.

Signs and symbols and metaphors all require interpretation. Not all readers of the book argee on how to interpret things. I'm sure you know this.

If it is what he saw, he saw it, there are visions that get explained in scripture,

Divegrester claims the words ‘eternal torture’ don’t mean ‘eternal torture’ and yet he is somehow placing to burden of proof on Kelly to prove that they do mean that. Incredible. 🤔

He hasn’t even come up with a reason that he has shared to support the need to make it mean something different than what it clearly says. And he has no clue what it should mean outside of the fact it cannot mean what it says, according to him.
