@ghost-of-a-duke saidCongrats on your Degree in Theology! Is this fairly recent, or have you had it a while? Either way congrats. I know how much work that requires; as with most degrees.
Sorry sonship, which one of us has a degree in theology? (Psst, it isn't you).
You're the one with a shaky/corrupt understanding of the NT, the one who tries (poorly) to squeeze in non biblical concepts like God-ized and other blasphemous nonsense.
@rajk999 saidI think this is what Jesus was talking about when He said: "Don't Judge!" I personally believe that many non-Christians are, and will be saved; and that, many supposed Christians are not. You know the verses:
To be honest I see many Christians bashing non Christians. All people are going to be judged by the same yardstick. Sonship for example here can talk all day about God and faith and becoming God, but that is of no value on judgment day. Any Good Samaritan [regardless of religion] will see the Kingdom of God before those who just talk.
[Matthew 7:21-23 NKJV] 21 "Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 "Many will say to Me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?' 23 "And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!'"
@kingdavid403 saidThanks. 25+ years old, so a little dusty. 😀

@ghost-of-a-duke saidThat's okay, once you got it, you got it for life. I would say "welcome to the club;" however, you were there long before I. 🙂 I never knew you had a Degree in Theology; that's cool...

Interesting indeed.
It still says He is leading many sons into glory.
It still says we are made partners of the Christ.
It still says we're holy brothers.
It still says Jesus is our Pioneer and Forerunner.
It still says we may be partakers of His holiness.
The entire book of Hebrews is still there in my Bible.
I'll check yet again latter after a few more yelps from the unbelievers in God and doubters of His word.
This post shows us (after Hebrews has elaborated "so great a salvation" assigned to His sons) how the faithful and capable divine Father extends His discipline to complete the process of their divinization.
There's no better way than to simply show what it says.
Looking away unto Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down on the right hand of the throne of God.
For compare Him who has endured such contradiction by sinners against Himself, so that you may not grow weary, fainting in your souls.
You have not yet resisted unto blood, struggling against sin,
And you have completely forgotten the exhortation which reasons with you as with sons, “My son, do not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord, nor faint when reproved by Him;
For whom the Lord loves He disciplines, and He scourges every son whom He receives.”
It is for discipline that you endure; God deals with you as with sons. For what son is there whom the father does not discipline?
But if you are without discipline, of which all sons have become partakers, then you are illegitimate and not sons.
Furthermore we have had the fathers of our flesh as discipliners and we respected them; shall we not much more be in subjection to the Father of spirits and live?
For they disciplined for a few days as it seemed good to them; but He, for what is profitable that we might partake of His holiness.
Now no discipline at the present time seems to be a matter of joy, but of grief; but afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been exercised by it. (Heb. 12:2-11)
@sonship saidI see nothing in the Book of Hebrews, or anywhere in the Bible, that says, certain followers of Christ should be worshiped by others. Are these others who do the worshiping, are they Christians also? Do you have any concrete scriptures or evidence, that certain Christian individuals should be worshiped? Please share some concrete scriptures without playing "connect the dots" with Scriptures; no more than two or three dots anyways. I'm not trying to bash you here, I just would like to understand your train of thought on this subject. I will say, from what I've read so far, I think you are incorrect in this case. That is, If I am understanding you correctly on this subject.

Do you remember what the Apostle Paul did when some started worshipping him?
@kingdavid403 saidThe plan was to go into teaching, before it dawned on me how nightmarish such a career would be. Have you put your degree to good use?

@kingdavid403 saidWanting to be worshipped, or placed on a pedestal ... another sign of Satan at work. I tell you the man is sick.

@kingdavid403 saidI think sonship's angle is that Christians are to be deified, rather than be worshipped by other Christians. (But one never quite knows with sonship).

@ghost-of-a-duke saidMy intent was to become a Pastor or teacher of God's Word. I have filled in and preached a couple sermons; and, I have led some Bible study groups.. Other than that, I became disgusted with most churches and denominations; and, then there was Trump, who Ironically, most supposed Christians felt he was sent by God and should be worshiped also. Go figure...
The plan was to go into teaching, before it dawned on me how nightmarish such a career would be. Have you put your degree to good use?
I will say, that the knowledge I gained getting my degree has greatly enhanced my life, love for others, and my walk with God. I also learned much about other religions, as you well know. My studies revealed many truths that I was not aware of. To make a long story shorter, I was on the wrong path full of hate for most others. A typical Evangelical Christian with no sense of the true Righteousness, or Love of God for ALL.
Only God knows where He will have me go from here.
Ironically, I got my degree at a, mostly Evangelical, Christian University. Let's just say, they did not care for me much. I will speak what I think is the truth.
@rajk999 saidThat's kind of the message I get from this thread also; minus him being sick. We all have faults, and, we are ALL wrong at times. Except for me of course 😛.

@kingdavid403 saidStating the obvious [we all have faults] is not justification for what is going on in this thread.

@rajk999 saidWell, I've seen this belief several times in others before.
Stating the obvious [we all have faults] is not justification for what is going on in this thread.
I use to have a friend who thought his wife and daughter should call him Lord; all because Sarah called Abraham Lord in Scriptures; and because he was a man and they were not. Guess what, he does not have a wife anymore and his daughter will not have a thing to do with him.
I am not trying to justify Son, or this thread. I have stated that I think he is wrong here.
I agree it is over the top somewhat; just like wanting to be called "Lord" by one's wife.
You most likely will see this again in others. Take this knowledge as a learning lesson. A suggestion.
You could pray for him also. That's what Jesus tells us to do.
I see nothing in the Book of Hebrews, or anywhere in the Bible, that says, certain followers of Christ should be worshiped by others.
Neither do I worship of the saved anywhere in the Bible.
Neither am I looking for such a thing.
As for being called "Lord" by anyone?
And I see that there is one Lord. (Eph. 4:5)
" . . . One Lord, one faith, one baptism."
Do you have a quotation from me (sonship) that I wrote that any Christian should be worshipped in this thread? In any other thread I wrote in do you find such a quote?
