@divegeester saidDive, it's really a shame that you spend so much time trying to discuss spirituality and politics online but, ultimately, you end up just gossiping, because that is basically what is happening.
If you bothered to read the dozens of threads started by me and thousands and thousands of posts made by me in them, you wouldn’t be writing such poorly informed posts.
“Your done” you’ve never been in this debate, you have not offered one cohesive piece or argumentation let alone not stating your opinion on wether you think the Revelation texts are literal and Jesus is literally in hell.
But yes you are probably better off out of the thread, I agree.
The actual content of your posts most often is petty bickering about things people have done or said before, or some context you want people to see.
Just put forward your ideas and be honest.
I think that one of the issues facing this site is that everyone in the forums thinks that they are someone special and we are all dying to hear the in-depth context of their posts and their relations with other users here.
It's just silly. No one cares.
Get to the point.
@philokalia saidI refer you to my previous post to you.
Just put forward your ideas and be honest.
@philokalia saidWhy not start a thread on this, perhaps in “Site Ideas”.

From the thread on Moon Landings Dive writes
For example you see something written in Revelation and you assume that it is meant at face value and you apply an “all or nothing” rational and arrive at all that crazy stuff it is that you believe.
Maybe you would have a case if Revelation was the ONLY place in the Bible which spoke of eternal punishment. But it is not.
"Crazy stuff" (according to your opinion) is seen in Daniel, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Romans, Second Thessalonians, Second Peter, Jude..
The accumulated case is only seen unquestionably graphically in Revelation 14, 20, with related inferences in 15,16,22.
Your case that ONE passage in one book is being imaginatively blown up in exaggeration all out of proportion doesn't work very well.
@sonship saidIt’s all good as we are in agreement that some of it is allegorical.

We are not in agreement that eternal punishment is a conscious unpleasantness and even torment that includes being thrown into a fiery lake but is probably not restricted to that.
It is high time that you gave us your alternative interpretation.
Are you going to NOT do that and continue with flimsy self congratulations?
GO NOW. You can start with this passage with your alternative exegesis -
"And the devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where also the beast and the false prophet were, and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever." (Rev. 20:10)
How do you interpret this verse?
@sonship saidI didn’t say we were. I am happy that we are in agreement that Revelation contains allegories.

@sonship saidProbably an allegory for something.

Probably an allegory.
And that is ALL you are going to give in the way of interpretation?
Use your imagination and put some more meat on it.
Now if the beast and the false prophet were destroyed into nothing, how is it that it says that "THEY" will be tormented once the Devil joins them?
"Probably an allegory" ... of what ?
@sonship saidStart a thread on it. Please...

This thread, my thread, is me pitching that if Revelation is all literal then Jesus is in hell overseeing the burning alive of non Christians.
But as we agree Revelation contains allegories.
@sonship saidIt’s over sonship, your have admitted that Revelation is not literal.

Which you could not defend. Okay, continue playing along happily with your toy.
I’m happy with that.
It’s over sonship, your have admitted that Revelation is not literal.
I’m happy with that.
Saying it was made known by signs is not saying nothing there is literal.
You're not that dumb. And you're coming off dishonest.
Then you must have been happy since you have known me here, going back some twelve or so years. (when I was jaywill)
Just about every time I touch this book in length, I mention 1:1.
And I just might do some searching to see if I can find you an early sample.
The year here was 2014, about five years ago.
In this thread I discussed at length Revelation chapter 12 and how to interpret symbolism in that chapter. Of course this precludes that I held the view that many things in Revelation need to be allegorized.
The Universal Bright Woman was the thread's title.
